Food photography has been quite the thing in Singapore in the past few years since Instagram started becoming really popular. Nowadays, not even my mother is safe from the take-a-photo-before-you-eat plague, and as a result I’m always either taking a photo of the food for her or I’ll have to wait at least 5 minutes just so she can get the perfect shot while everyone else at the table starves.

Granted, everyone has their vices and for some of us, it’s incessantly uploading pretty pictures that have been painstakingly curated for likes. We at GET.com have rounded up the 10 most Instagrammable food places that can fuel your Instagram feed. Or if you’re not on Instagram at all, these places are still worth the visit for their food and drinks.

1. Sunday Folks

If you’ve ever been to Sunday Folks, you must know that this is no ordinary dessert shop. Their specialty, (aka the crowd favourite) is their double stacked waffle, topped off with a generous swirl of your chosen ice cream. I mean it’s waffles and ice cream, who wouldn’t post a photo of that?

2. Shop Wonderland

Tucked away in Haji Lane, this humble shop house is where you go to get a dose of flowers and coffee. Whether it’s dried flowers or fresh flowers, there is not a corner in this cafe that is not decked out with some form of flora. If you want to go on a photo rampage, just try to catch them when they’re not too crowded.

3. Carpenter And Cook

This is probably one of my favourite places to go to, and not just for their passionfruit meringue tart, but because almost every single thing by Carpenter and Cook is worth taking a picture off. When you do go there, take a look around. Some of the vintage items on display might even be for sale.

4. Wheeler’s Yard

Sometimes, you have to suffer for your art. I admit, Wheeler’s Yard is a little complicated to get to if you don’t have a vehicle. But fret not, once you get there and you realise how Instagram-worthy this place it, you won’t regret a single bit. If you must know, there are straight busses you can take that will bring you to Lorong Ampas.

5. Lola’s Cafe

Nothing really captures my attention more than rustic feels, and I think Lola’s Cafe does exactly that. Top tip: Snap a photo of your food, or yourself, against their naked, unpainted walls. Try to fit in some of the Ottoman tiles in there too if you can.

6. CreatureS

This classy and modern restaurant will be your favourite if you’re big on fusion food. Their menu is tactfully thought out with dishes like pumpkin soup and you tiao, as well as their ikan bilis Caesar. Make sure you head out to their outdoor section and snap a photo or two (more like two hundred) and put it up on the gram.

7. Hyde & Co.

Other than the fact that Hyde & Co. has got their presentation skills on point, they get a plus point from me because unlike other cafes that serve a variety of coffee blends, they focus on a wide range of tea blends that are brought in from overseas!

8. The LoKal

Nestled away in Chinatown, there’s The LoKal which I personally love because of its wall tiles. This casual restaurant has done all the right things, from making the interior of the shop aesthetically appealing, down to the little details like the plates that they use to serve their food.

9. Curious Palette

Here’s one tip to help you take the perfect photo for Instagram – find a spot with natural light. Curious Palette probably knows this since they have rustic-styles glass windows that let plenty of light in. It’s hard not to take an Instagrammable photo when you’re in here.

10. Non Entree Desserts

Non Entree Desserts serve up some of the most unique desserts I’ve seen. They take pride in the way they take classic European desserts and pastries and inject it with a modern twist to make it their own. A best seller from them would be their avalanche cakes in chocolate or matcha. Imagine yourself cutting through an almost levitating molten lava cake and letting the contents spill onto the ice cream beneath it. Just make sure someone’s helping you take a photo while you’re at it.
