Known for her quirky, straightforward personality, beauty influencer Nicole Chang Min (@nicolechangmin) has carved out a unique space in the world of content-commerce. With the help of platforms such as Shopee Live, she now collaborates with leading brands and engages viewers through her livestreams.
Her infectious energy has garnered her many fans – who have requested for an in-person meet up. It happened in August, with about 30 members of her online community.
“I am so grateful that we amassed such a supportive community. If we hit more milestones during the livestream, I may consider doing another one,” she says.
Despite nearly a decade as an influencer, Nicole initially found livestreaming’s long hours draining. Over time, she learned to pace herself and focus on more genuine conversations with viewers.
“You are speaking to the audience in real-time – It lets you be raw and authentic,” she says.
That authenticity has become her trademark. Her community see her as not just a beauty guru, but as a “big sister” figure who is relatable and personable.
How Shopee supports a new generation of influencers
While Nicole is no stranger to digital content creation and sharing, livestreaming has served as a new avenue to expand her career as an influencer.
With her niche in beauty content, Shopee’s Affiliate Programme complements Nicole’s work across social media platforms, giving her audience a seamless way to shop. An avid shopper herself, she enjoys sharing tried-and-tested finds – including a $2 heated eyelash curler that went viral.
Her product recommendations now extend to Youtube too, which allows tagging of up to 30 products. As her vlogs remain online indefinitely, they continue to generate views and conversions long after being posted.
Shopee’s brand livestreams connect Nicole with brands and let her share exclusive deals with viewers. By adding interactive touches like coin giveaways, she creates a lively, engaging space that brings her audience closer.
To those interested in building an online career, she advises: “Play to your strengths and personality. You don’t need to be an influencer to start.”
With Shopee’s user-friendly tools, women entrepreneurs are not only growing their businesses, but also uplifting other women along the way.
