The evening began with a keynote speech by Susan Peh, Chief Executive of Adsan Law, who captivated the audience with her insights on leadership. Drawing from her own experiences starting out in a work environment where leaders often lacked empathy and were solely focused on results and perfection, Susan underscored the importance of resilience in the face of adversity. She shared key tips for those stepping into leadership roles, emphasising the importance of building trust and confidence within teams.

Question to the panel by event attendees

The night continued with an enriching panel discussion by Elizabeth Lee, Editor-in-Chief at Her World; Carolyn Chin-Parry, Digital Innovation Leader for PwC; and Michelle Khoo. The theme of the panel was “What is the definition of success?”, and was moderated by one of our very own mentees, Sindhu Achadan. Each mentor shared their unique stories of failure and success, offering personal insights and wisdom. The attendees in the room also had the chance to ask their own questions, gaining valuable advice on transitioning into managerial roles and discovering what success means for them.

The panellists wrapped up by sharing some valuable advice:

“Feeling unconfident? Read your CV again.”
Michelle Khoo
“Believe in yourself and speak up for yourself.”
Carolyn Chin-Parry, Digital Innovation Leader for PwC
“Don’t be afraid to fail.”
Elizabeth Lee, Editor-in-Chief at Her World

Afterwards, the mentors and mentees got the opportunity to mingle with each other — leaving them with a renewed sense of purpose and drive, ready to take on the next chapter of their careers and lives.
