Her World Mentorship Programme 2024: Here's what 2023's mentees have to say
Calling all women building their careers in STEM! Hear what the 2023 mentees have to say and join the Her World Mentorship Programme 2024
Looking to level up in your career? The Her World Mentorship Programme is back for the second year, and this time, we’re focusing on women in or looking to join the STEM field.
Launched in 2023, the Her World Mentorship Programme pairs inspirational women you see on our pages to aspiring achievers, so they can seek for guidance and advice as they navigate their professional and personal lives.
In 2023, our 11 mentees were matched with eight mentors from diverse industries. Throughout the six-month programme, the mentees and mentors were encouraged to meet at least three times to discuss their professional and personal goals. Her World also organised a launch event, a check-in panel discussion on the practical applications of AI, and invited the cohort to the Her World Women of the Year gala dinner.
How did the mentees benefit?
The programme will help you reflect on your professional and personal goals. "The mentorship programme really forced me into thinking about my current situation [and] identify gaps in my career and personal trajectory", said Nur Hashimah Ghazali, an events executive.
Mentors will draw on their wellspring of experience to offer useful advice on how you can progress in your career.
"I got a few tips from Eugenia on how to build a product base, and to reach out to more people", said Wendy Koh, a marquage artist, about her mentor Eugenia Ye-Yoh, the founder of nail wrap brand Nodspark.
"The sense of reward that I get, really, is from seeing her progress, really just by herself. So yes, I do give pointers here and there, but the main bulk of work was actually from her. And seeing her actually, being very appreciative of the time that we have together and actually putting into action and growing", said Eugenia. "I mean, you are sold out out to like January, right? So when I saw that, it was like, wow, it's amazing that actually, I could help."
Beyond that, it's an opportunity for you to build meaningful relationships outside of your existing network.
"Puiyan and myself have agreed to stay in touch beyond the Her World Mentorship Programme", said Charlene Sim, the founder of Glowfully. Her mentor was Puiyan Leung, a Partner of Investment at Vertex Ventures. "And I'm really thankful for Her World to give me this opportunity to be part of this programme".
