South Korean drama It’s Okay To Not Be Okay has been gaining popularity thanks to its unique plot and portrayal of mental health issues. Similarly, the wardrobe worn by Seo Ye Ji, who plays Ko Mun Yeong, has been attracting buzz online too.
We had previously covered the drama’s fashion, bags and shoes. To finally complete your transformation into this formidable character, here were the luxury jewellery pieces from brands such as Cartier and Bvlgari that Seo wore in the series.
At the end of episode 2, there was a scene where Seo’s face concealed by an umbrella. This shot gave us a glimpse of a pair of rose gold hoop earrings from Cartier’s Ecrou de Cartier range. If you didn’t know, this collection draws design inspiration from nails and screws. You can clearly see the spiral grooves and nuts that adorn the earrings too.
Episode 4 saw Seo stylishly dressed in an ethereal white dress accessorised with a pair of Clash de Cartier hoops. Launched last year, the Clash collection challenged the conventional Cartier silhouette we have been familiar and boldly used rivets, round beads and square rivets as design elements. The drama plays on the harmony between rigidity and softness and the Clash de Cartier line is rather fitting with Seo’s characterisation.
In the scene where Seo was lying in bed in pyjamas, the Juste un Clou bracelet around her wrist caught our eyes. Known as the most famous nail in the world, the design was created by the esteemed Aldo Cipullo in 1970. The beauty of the design comes from its transformation of a humble object and imbuing it with special, significant meanings. Its enduring beauty and success as an icon can also be attributed to its ability to capture the zeitgeist of the ’70s.
In episode 3 and 4, Seo wore the highly recognisable Serpenti Tubogas watch from Bvlgari. The watch combined two emblematic designs from the label, the Serpenti Tubogas consists of the serpentine coil of a snake around the wrist as well as the Tubogas that draws inspiration from Italian piping. A special technique is used to shape uniform lines and create the flexible yet soft metal tubular shape, which symbolises the graceful curves of women and the agile posture of a snake.
Conversely, the brand new Bvlgari B.zero1 Rock collection adds a studded design to the classic B.zero1 line. It stands out for its uncompromising design and is a symbol of strength and independence. In the series, Seo uses punk-style B.zero1 Rock jewellery to accent her domineering and unpredictable qualities.
Seo fell from down the stairs at the beginning of episode 6 but was safely caught by Kim. In the scene, we see the Chaumet Liens Seduction 18k rose gold ring on her fingers. Liens is one of the pillar collections from the French jeweller and symbolises a thread that brings people and their destinies closer together.
Besides the ring, we later see her sporting the Jeux de Liens Harmony 18k rose gold necklace with the same outfit. Jeux de Liens Harmony represents two individuals with two semicircles and a thread that brings these two together into a harmonious, united whole. This perhaps echoes the progress of the relationship between Seo’s and Kim’s characters.
In ep 13, Seo went to take a family photo with the brothers. She is seen sporting a simple bangle and a luxe watch, both from Piaget. Unlike other scenes where she was decked out in jewellery, she kept it subtle and simple for the photoshoot, pairing it with a white dress.
In ep 14, Seo found out a fact about her mother that could destroy her relationship with the brothers. In this scene, she was spotted with a pair of Piaget Sunlight Earrings, a statement piece that she wore with a floral high-neck dress.
Besides the jewellery spotted in the drama, another place we see Seo sporting luxury accessories is in the promotional posters. In this publicity photo for the drama, Seo is wearing Bvlgari Diva’s Dream jewellery to exemplify her elegant femininity together with the neutral style of the Bvlgari Bvlgari collection.
Diva’s Dream is inspired by fan-shaped mosaic tiles from the ancient Roman Baths of Caracalla. Graceful lines outline exquisite patterns, showcasing the tenderness of Italian women. Bvlgari Bvlgari, on the other hand, takes the brand name logo as the main design and is both fashionable and versatile.
