Halloween is that one day a year when adults get to relive their childhood and partake in merrymaking by dressing up in costumes. And with the recent success of Netflix’s Squid Game, it comes as no surprise that many celebrities dressed up as characters from the show, such as the doll, henchmen and contestants. From scary to quirky Halloween outfits, these celebs gave their unique take on the styling and makeup.
Keep scrolling to check out what celebs from Blackpink’s Jennie and Lisa to Fann Wong and Fan Bingbing wore to celebrate the spooky occasion. And maybe get inspired for the next Halloween?
Like everyone else, Lisa also caught the Squid Game bug. She sported the same orange and yellow outfit worn by the Red Light, Green Light doll, complete with her signature bangs. How cute is this doll?
Jisoo, on the other hand, went for a cheeky route and dressed in support of her band member Lisa. She sported the same comfy oversized sweater worn by Lisa in her Lalisa music video. Talk about a role model for team spirit.
Jennie took inspiration from Greek mythology by dressing up as Medusa, but made it extra glamorous with snake accessories and matching wavy hair. This is one Medusa we’d like to emulate.
The final member of Blackpink, Rosé, went on an entirely different track by reminiscing her schooling days with a geeky student get-up that’s making us want to dig out our old school uniforms.
Fann went for a simple witch costume complete with smudged makeup for this year’s Halloween. She added in the caption that she spent the day baking with her son Zed, who flexed his entrepreneurial muscle and wanted to sell the cookies he made.
Chantalle took inspiration from the children’s gamebook Where’s Waldo?, elevating the look with a striped Tory Burch dress and Asics sneakers.
Irene wasn’t afraid to look super scary with what seems to be a Chinese ghost/zombie-inspired costume. Her attention to detail, from the makeup to the outfit, makes it super realistic.
Sheila Sim and her husband Deon Woo also caught the Squid Game fever, and dressed up as the henchmen in the show. We’re not quite sure what inspired daughter Layla’s grandmother costume with curly white hair and a pearl necklace, but Layla sure looks adorable to bits.
Fiona Fussi tapped on a spooky classic by transforming herself into Morticia Addams from The Addams Family. We’re impressed by how well done her black smoky eyes are.
No extra points for guessing correctly what Sonia and Joakim’s favourite movie is — they dressed up as Trinity and Neo from The Matrix.
A family that dresses up for Halloween together, stays together. Dee Hsu and her family transformed themselves into the various characters of Squid Game, with Dee going to great lengths to age herself using makeup, to resemble player 001. 100% effort.
Pierre and Andrea went for a matching couple outfit by dressing up as the henchmen in Squid Game, showing us again just how popular the Netflix series is.
Yeri transformed herself into Shin Chae-kyung from the popular drama Princess Hours for SM Entertainment’s famous Halloween party.
Girl group Twice celebrated Halloween early this year — the members sported different outfits ranging from Hulk to Squid Game. The cutest ones, though, would have to be Momo and Sana, who dressed up as cup noodles with matching curly hair. 😍
For Halloween, Shu Qi used makeup and contact lenses to transform herself into a strange, ethereal-looking creature. She added in the captions that her persona was seeking candy, perhaps a nod to trick or treating?
Attending an event in Shanghai, Fan Bingbing didn’t forget about Halloween. She showed up in a dark elf-like costume, complete with dramatic nails and makeup.
How to easily transform yourself into Catwoman? Learn from Gigi Lai and put on a cat-ear hairband and a full black outfit. Smoky, heavily-lined eyes necessary.
While most celebs focused on serving one look for Halloween, Ouyang Nana prepared two simple looks. The first was a cute bunny-inspired costume, while the other was a gruesome zombie. Double win.
Another attendee of SM Entertainment’s Halloween party, Aespa Karina pulled off Alice in Wonderland‘s Queen of Hearts costume wonderfully — props to her for being able to recreate the dramatic and technically challenging look. The other members Ningning, Giselle and Winter wore outfits from Black Swan, Harley Quinn and Squid Game respectively.
Aimee Song and husband Jacopo Moschin paid homage to one of pop culture’s most famous couples, Yoko Ono and John Lennon, with their own photoshoot where they recreated their outfits too.
