Like any multitasking woman, Coral Chung juggles several roles. At home, she’s a doting mum to her seven-year-old daughter. At work, she runs luxury leather goods brand Senreve.
The former strategy consultant and tech executive had always wanted to start her own brand. She was spurred by the lack of options that resonated with her multifaceted lifestyle. “I wanted a handbag that was luxurious and beautiful, but also practical and for my everyday life,” she shares. “So, I decided to start Senreve.”
Find out more about Senreve, Coral’s inspiration and the bag brand’s eco-conscious efforts below.
Senreve means “sense” and “dream” in French, and it reflects the brand’s philosophy of “balancing tradition and innovation, beauty and versatility, fantasy and everyday”.
The versatile Maestra is one of the brand’s bestsellers and can be carried as a cross-body, satchel, backpack or tote.
Since its inception in 2016, it has gained a global following that includes Hollywood celebrities such as Emma Roberts and Priyanka Chopra, Chinese actress and Senreve ambassador Zhu Zhu, and street-style stars Jane Chuck, Andrea Chong and more.
Coral says she is inspired by her customers for each new collection, and it has never been more crucial to listen to women’s needs than during these pandemic times.
The female-led brand is also big on sustainability. “We believe in zero-waste, constant improvement, as well as keeping our community informed,” adds Coral.
Last year, the US brand launched its first wholly vegan line, and just this August, it rolled out its new Cactus collection, made up of cruelty-free pieces crafted from native Mexican cactus plants. The entirely plant-based leather used in these bags is just as sleek and smooth as the usual leathers that we see.
“The cactus material is supple and durable,” she shares. “No cactus plants are destroyed because they can regenerate, and they don’t have a lot of water consumption requirements or need additional irrigation.”
