Animal print has always been a classic print that never seems to go out of style. No matter the season or the era, you will be hard pressed to find a time when there wasn’t any to be seen being worn, whether on the runways or in stores.
The insouciantly cool Jenna Lyons, (in case you didn’t know she’s the creative director and president of J.Crew) once said, “ As far as I am concerned, leopard print is a neutral.” However to me, I felt like animal print has always threaded the line between tacky, even trashy, and good taste.
Still, having seen a slew of celebrities and style stars working this print like there’s no tomorrow the last couple of seasons, my impression of these prints has changed.
I’d also like attribute this mindset change to the designers.
They seemed to have found the right formula for making animal prints look more expensive and wearable than ever. I think I am ready to work some animal print into my outfit now.
