Winter is no longer coming…winter is here. As festivities descend upon us and malls are decked with boughs of holly, brands wade in with their holiday collections and H&M is no exception, releasing their festive range on Thursday (Nov 9).
It’s black, red, biker, sexy, rock chic and daring all rolled into one collection, based on a dark gothic fantasy.
Yes, red seems a little typical for a Christmas range however, there is nothing traditional about these pieces. From patent boots to tartan trousers, the red is less Santa Claus, but more sexy siren. But did we expect anything less from a collection fronted by Nicki Minaj? Hell, no.
Their holiday film, due for release on Nov 28, is fronted by none other than rap queen Nicki Minaj.
But rather than waiting with twiddling thumbs for the release, good news is, you can already shop their collection online.

Oh hello, instant sex appeal! Thigh-high boots came back into trend a good 3-4 years ago and whilst many thought they were a fleeting phase, they’ve stuck around and remained relevant. From peep-toed to lace up to gladiators, the thigh-high is not going anywhere anytime soon…so you best embrace it. These MAY be troublesome in our tropical climate but when you’re moving from air con cab to air con bar, is there really a problem? We think not.
Style tip: These work wonders with an oversized logo tee that is worn as a dress, and a chunky choker to complete the look.
Thigh-high Boots, $94.95
Statement earrings are still a huge deal and these red tassle ones take the top slot for the holiday season. What’s more, they’re absolutely perfect to resurface for CNY 2018! It’s a double win in one purchase.
Style tip: You can either go wayyyy over the top on Christmas Day and pair these with your favourite Christmas sweater, or, wear them with an LBD for your Christmas eve night out with the family.
Tasselled Earrings, $14.95
Not for the weak hearted, tartan pants are a statement look, especially in a base colour of red. We absolutely love these pants and are ready to be bold and daring this season by rocking these bad boys during the weekend.
Style tip: Black ankle boots are the perfect companion to these pants…delivering the edgy / rock chic vibe that tartan pants so yearn for.
Tartan Pants, $54.95
When gothic meets pretty, that’s where tulle will dwell…and how well does it dwell on this sheer embroidered dress? We just love this statement piece as an easy throw-on when we’ve made last-minute party plans with the girls.
Style tip: Gold accessories will help accentuate the top layer of embroidery, so we recommend adding some gold drop earrings and either strappy gold heels or, if you’re not feeling that girly, you can pair with black lace up boots…just like the pair featured in this gallery! Oh, and a lick of red lipstick will work wonders too.
Sheer Tulle Dress, $109
For the weekend last-minute dash to the mall, or the leisurely pre-Christmas lunch with your family…this bag is a great addition to your OOTD. Compact, cute and will work with pretty much anything – can even mix ‘n’ match it with gold accessories. Why not, it’s Christmas!
Style tip: We would pair this with some skinny jeans and a light chiffon blouse, because we’re just feeling very ‘off-duty’ glam right now.
Silver Cross Body Bag, $44.95
Oh how much do we heart these boots? The shiny black finish, the chunky heel (height and comfort, thank you for this!) and the ankle lace straps make these boots our must-buy this season. They are so versatile you can work these into pretty much any outfit… save a bikini on the beach (definitely not going to work).
Style tip: Get some metallic or patent pants or leggings, tuck them into the boots and then throw on your favourite top or sweater for an ideal weekend killer ensemble.
Laced Up Boots, $109
It’s time to snuggle! And what better way than curling up with your beau, in this oversized turtleneck sweater. All you need to complete the scene is a holiday movie on, hot chocolate with marshmellows and…erm…an open log fire. Actually, scrap that last idea, not in this heat – we don’t!
Style tip: Keep things minimalist with this number, pairing only with your favourite skinny jeans or tights and some ballet pumps or black flat boots.
Grey Turtleneck Oversized Sweater, $74.95
Now, we know what you are thinking: That a faux fur coat may seem a little…too much in our tropical climate. However, given that most of us are in air conditioning for 95 per cent of the time whether it is in the office, at home or on the MRT train, this coat will still get its much needed wear and tear. Oh, and we can’t forget to mention that it’s an ideal travel buddy for overseas trips this winter too.
Style tip: Release your inner diva celebrity by pairing with stiletto heels and extra large rounded sunglasses. Natch darling.
Faux Fur Coat, $139
These pretty floral beaded earrings will offer that ‘I am joining in with the festive fun’ feel but without having to roll yourself in bright red and glitter. You know, because sometimes you want to look demure and understated but still in keeping with the season.
Style tip: Tie your hair back when you rock these earrings. They deserve as much air time as they can get.
Flat chunky ankle boots are every girl’s winter go-to shoe, and for good reasons too. They’re easy to wear, practical, comfortable and they deliver that ‘I’m effortlessly cool and I kinda’ know it’ persona.
Style tip: We enjoy wearing these with some denim shorts (dark navy or black) with some rips and frayed edges, combined with a crop top and loose checked open shirt over the top.
