12 ideas from this beautiful wedding in Phuket and Singapore
Natalie Hilary Lim, 25, and Timothy Tan, 29, got married in Phuket, where Tim proposed. They had a church ceremony and second celebration in Singapore three months later.
By Felicia Tan -
The proposal Tim popped the question while we were on holiday in Phuket in June 2013. He proposed - on bended knee - just as we were about to turn in for the night, and presented a sweet video clip he'd made of various trips and experiences we'd share.
A tale in two cities We decided to have two celebrations. The first was an intimate pastel-themed destination wedding at the resort where he'd proposed to me, and where we took our wedding portraits a few days before the ceremony. Our closest friends and immediate family members were with us. We exchanged vows we'd written ourselves under an arbour on the beach, which the resort's staff created according to my design. For the reception, we had a customised four-course dinner. We also had table games for guests. The celebration ended with fireworks and the release of large paper lanterns bearing the wishes of guests. Everything was perfect.
Three months later We had a Catholic church wedding, where we took the customary vows, and a bigger banquet for relatives and friends at Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay, complete with a whimsical photo booth station, a dessert table and stage games.

The couple wed under a floral arbour Natalie designed. They met at the gym through their trainer. “Tim first asked me out to dinner under
the pretext of finding out more about university life. We dated for five years before we got hitched!”
The palette for the Phuket celebration comprised sky blue, pink and white. The decorations were made by Natalie and Tim’s sister Lydia. Fairy lights, paper lanterns, chevron stripes, paper pom-poms, and cotton branches with raw cotton bolls added a cheery, whimsical vibe.

The gatecrashing was done to the theme of Running Man, which was suggested by the bridesmaids, and the wedding party had the beach as well as villa pool to play with.

Dinner took place at the couple’s villa, which was decked out in paper lanterns and fairy lights.
The fireworks were the icing on the cake after a delicious and entertaining dinner.
These days, a wefie in your bridal finery is a must.
