Guide to Joo Chiat: Cool things to see, eat and do in this hip neighbourhood

With cool new cafes and fancy grocers popping up in the past year, Joo Chiat is enjoying a revival right now

by Rebecca Rachel Wong  /   June 17, 2022

Female

We already know Joo Chiat as one hip neighbourhood. But this eastern enclave is looking to be an even more popular spot now thanks to a revival that sees numerous trendy eateries and lifestyle spots springing up of late.

In the last year alone, nine new dining options have set up camp in the area, including cafes like The Brewing Ground, Kings Cart Coffee Factory and C Cafe. More recently, organic bedding company Sojao shared on Instagram that it will be opening a brick and mortar store in the area come November.

Meanwhile, lovers of artisanal produce will be happy to know that Little Farms has opened its biggest outlet here. It spans 6,000 square feet with a supermarket, butcher, barista bar and bistro. For a ‘community-grocer’ feel, there’s the new East Coast Grocers, which offers yummy bakes and housemade jams as well.

Some F&B and retail brands have also set up new outposts in this locale. For example, the well-known Common Man Coffee Roasters, artisanal creamery Apiary, local beauty brand Oasis:skin and family-run furniture and decor store Lim’s Holland Village.
