A walk in the woods could be just the thing for urban dwellers in need of a respite from work and stressors of everyday life. But with Singapore’s humid weather, paired with the incessant rain these days, enjoying the great outdoors might not be always feasible. And this is when an indoor forest like Jewel Changi Airport’s Shiseido Rainforest Valley comes into play.
Jewel Changi Airport has teamed up with ecotour company Xiu Nature Connections to roll out ‘Mornings in the Woods’, a new forest bathing experience that immerses you in the calming green oasis of its iconic indoor forest. Here’s what to know.
A term that first emerged in Japan in the 1980s (also known as “shinrin-yoku”), and a form of ecotherapy, it encourages bathing your senses in nature in a mindful manner. It places emphasis on being present and contemplative amidst trees and a natural environment, with the belief that it boosts one’s wellbeing and helps one discover new perspectives and insights.
A collaboration between Changi Airport Group, Jewel Changi Airport, and Xiu Nature Connections, the tw0-hour forest bathing experience will be curated by and accompanied by a certified forest therapy guide.
Expect it to be a slow and immersive experience, with a structure that it promises will “allow your sensorial re-discovery to self, others, and nature to unfold.”
You can expect a slow, contemplative and immersive experience, which is why it’s recommended for anyone aged 16 and above. And no particular outdoor clothing is required — just dress in something comfortable.
COVID-19 restrictions and safety measures, including wear a mask at all times, apply.
