After months of waiting, the highly anticipated Museum of Ice Cream has finally opened its doors at Dempsey’s Loewen Road. Covering 60,000 sq ft, the outlandish pink building will feature 14 unique interactive installations as well as cafes, bars and even a retail store within its immersive space. It’s the first time that the world-famous U.S. based attraction is venturing abroad and we can easily see why it’s such a hit with the masses.
This time ’round, MOIC will be adding a touch of local flavour into the mix, and not just with its ice cream. Here, expect a Singapore-inspired dragon playground – like the ones from our childhood — as well as a slew of activities during its grand opening weekend from 19 to 22 August too! Think — MOIC’s very own Mercone, temporary National Day-themed tattoos, merchandise created in collaboration with local brands, a game of Chapteh and Five Stones and more.
And what’s not to love about these fanciful installations? They offer great photo opportunities and you’ll get to enjoy unlimited servings of ice cream while you’re at it — what more can you ask for?
If you’re curious to find out more about what the Museum of Ice Cream has in store for you, read on.
While this massive exhibition may be out of the way for some, we recommend taking a Grab or taxi here. Parking is limited and considering how most of the tickets are sold out for the next few weekends, it’d be best to skip the hassle of finding a parking lot around the area as it may already be packed.
Aside from that, we highly recommend purchasing your tickets online before going down to the Museum of Ice Cream as there are no physical counters for you to buy your tickets from.
Miss travelling? Who doesn’t! If you’re looking to satisfy your wanderlust (and your sweet tooth), this is the place to be. At this installation, guests will also be treated to an indulgent scoop of ice cream with flavours ranging from Belgian Chocolate to Pina Colada, and even a vegan-friendly option which is none other than the Mango Sorbet.
Nothing beats jamming to your favourite classics while you indulge in some soft serve. Here at Scream’s Diner, guests can flip through the jukebox catalogue and pick any song to jam to.
But the fun doesn’t stop there. In fact, this installation at the Museum of Ice Cream is made for all ages and not just kids. The super-sized bouncy castle otherwise known as the Inflatable, packs in some serious fun and we’re certain that you’ll have a blast on it too.
Celebrating our favourite local ice cream sticks, this installation features sticks of Potong. Here, you’ll also be able to get your hands on the Pulut Hitam Potong ice cream.
Inspired by the famous old school dragon-tiled playground, the unicorn playground at Playspace is a whimsical take on an old-time classic that brings back nostalgic memories of the past. Besides that, this room also offers a slew of activities for you to try with your friends including a game of hopscotch, a few basketball hoops for you to play with, and fruit swings. But before you move on to the next room, don’t forget to grab your Lychee Bandung and Taro Milk Tea ice cream sandwiches.
There’s no doubt that the Museum of Ice Cream offers loads of photo opportunities at every room. One of the key highlights that you should look out for is the pink and yellow Banana Jungle that features up to 10,000 bananas decked in bright pops of colours you’ll definitely love.
To end your journey on a sweet note, enter the iconic MOIC Sprinkle Pool, the biggest one the museum’s created.
