It’s the June school holidays, and while most of us are working, it still is a great month to take a break from work. And while you might think that you’re running out of things to do in Singapore, there’s a particular event that’s happening this Friday that you can check out this weekend.
Yes, we’re talking about i Light Singapore 2022. After a two-year hiatus from the scene, the iconic sustainable light festival is back this year from 3 June to 26 June — and it’s bigger and brighter than ever.

As part of the festival, here, you can expect to see 20 light art installations done by 57 artists, across 14 countries, of which 9 installations are done by locals.
But that’s not all. In fact, foodies at heart can also look forward to the return of GastroBeats, the ultimate festival boasting a wide array of mouthwatering bites by renowned local and international culinary personalities accompanied by live performances, and graffiti art, and a massive food-themed inflatable park.

If you’re looking for things to do with your friends, family or even your partner this weekend, then GastroBeats is the place to be. After transforming the 14,200sqm space into a full-blown festival, you can expect to indulge in a variety of experiences that include savouring the taste of Singapore’s dynamic hawker and street food culture, or you can even treat yourself over to the ‘Culinary Masters by Sarah Todd’, where you’ll find a collaboration menu by Sarah Todd (Australia) and chefs George Calombaris (Australia), Genevieve Lee (Singapore) and Derek Cheong (Singapore) from MasterChef.
Aside from food, you will get the chance to explore (and experience) Singapore’s art scene over at the graffiti corner, of which you can even try your hands at spray painting. And as for the young ones (or the young at heart), you’ll also be glad to know that there will also be an inflatable playground for them to play in within the festival grounds too.
GastroBeats will be open from 4pm to 10.30pm daily (3 June to 26 June, 2022) Admission tickets start from $9 (not inclusive of food and drink). Please note that this is a cashless event. Tickets are available on Klook. For more information, please visit www.gastrobeats.com.
As part of the event, be sure to take a look at your surroundings as the buildings and bridges around the Bay area will be lit up in a beautiful violet hue on Festival nights — in line with the theme ‘Spark Of Light’, of which violet was the chosen colour for this year’s festivities.
Organised by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and presented by DBS, the Festival will see the works of 57 artists from 14 countries, all of which 9 are from Singapore. And while all the light art installations are free to roam, there is, however, one installation that’s ticketed — and that is the Lightwave: Isle of Light, Empowered by OPPO.
