Having a good laugh every now and then sounds simple, but is actually crucial for couple satisfaction. This has even been proven by science. According to a study entitled “Sexual Selection and Humour in Courtship: A Case for Warmth and Extroversion” by the University of Kansas, when a woman laughs at a man’s jokes, it deepens her emotional investment in the relationship. While you shouldn’t expect you other half to be a stand-up comedian, it doesn’t hurt to watch a funny video together or go to a comedy club together.
You might even forge an inside joke or two that you can laugh about down the road in the process. Local actress, Felicia Chin, recently took to the gram to share an anecdote of the time when she and her significant other, fellow actor Jeffrey Xu, had a laugh fest. The “Life Less Ordinary” actress posted this snap and said, “Never wore “couple wear” before; we laughed at each other’s faces when we met (without prior arrangement of what we were going to wear) lovely day with lovely friends and family:).” It is no wonder they are so blissful.

It’s a good sign that your relationship is headed in the right direction if you and your significant other share some common interest (not all). It doesn’t matter what you are doing.
What is more important is enjoying being in each other’s presence. Take travelling for example, borrow a leaf out of Fann and Christopher’s book and go on a trip together.

Our adventure may have ended in Central Europe 4 years ago, and our honeymoon is still nowhere in sight, but our marital journey has only just begun, made more exciting with two little ones. If you’ve been together with your other half for quite some time, there is a tendency to take each other for granted and doing so can be very damaging for a relationship. That is why you should always be grateful for having them in your life and you can show your gratitude by regularly thinking about the positive attributes of your partner and why you fell in love with them in the first place. When you are grateful, your partner will feel valued in the relationship, and this is an essential building block for any relationship.
