It’s not uncommon for couples to argue. But the one household thing that they can really lock horns over? Chores.
With this in mind, United Kingdom-based bathroom and shower company ShowersToYou surveyed more than 2,400 couples to find out which
chores spark the highest amount of tension within a relationship. And here’s the thing: chores can disrupt the balance so much that 15 per cent of ex-couples revealed that quarrelling over household chores was a direct contributor to the breakdown of the relationship. It’s doing the dishes–57 per cent of couples reported that they have gotten into a spat over it with their spouse. Always wishing that your man would do his fair share of washing up? Check out these five ways that will make him do just that without any protest.
They are taking out the rubbish (46 per cent) and cleaning the kitchen (42 per cent). If you need help figuring out who does what (particularly if you guys hate the same chore), it might be helpful to discuss expectations and also learn to trade tasks.
They are cleaning the bathroom (36 per cent) and doing laundry (29 per cent). Sure, getting the clothes washed is quite dull, but you can always speed up the process with these shortcuts.
It’s grocery shopping (26 percent). Though, really, whatever the chore, it’s important to remember that divvying up chores is key to a health relationship, so consider the bigger picture before leaving the dishes unwashed.
