As we go back to Phase 2 (Heightened Alert), the National Day Parade (NDP) celebrations have been postponed to Aug 21. And while things may be a little different this year, we can still celebrate the occasion with our loved ones in the comfort of our own homes. And of course, no celebration is ever complete without the food! As we celebrate Singapore’s 56th Birthday, here, we’ve rounded up some of the best National Day menus that you can take away, or have delivered to your doorstep.
These are not your ordinary rolls. Injecting some local flavour to your favourite treats, All Things Delicious has rolled out its own range of Sepak Takraw rolls with a sweet filling of Ondeh Ondeh that are made of natural desiccated coconut sweetened with melaka. There’s also a savoury version for you to opt for (peep the Sambal Ikan Bilik Sepak Takraw Rolls) that are filled with fragrant, spicy sambal tumis and crispy ikan bilis. Made with the finest ingredients, here, you can expect an impeccable array of fine dining dishes cooked atop binchō-tan (white charcoal). Belly-warming, comforting and with addictive crispy rice puffs — restaurant and catering company Chilli Padi has elevated the iconic pao fan with a laksa version that you can enjoy at home.
The Laksa Pao Fan set comprises steamed white rice, whole prawns, battered fish fillets, pacific clams, and seafood bean curd rolls (surimi wrapped in bean curd skin) simmering in Chilli Padi’s special house-made lemak laksa broth.
But what’s great about this particular dish is that the broth isn’t too spicy and has a fragrant coconut-y aroma. However, if you like something with a bit more of a kick, there’s also some sambal on the side that you can mix it in with too.
