Every June, we celebrate Father’s Day in honour of all the paternal figures in our lives. And while we shouldn’t need a special day to recognise all that they have done for us, we reckon it is nice that they have a day all to themselves. Every household has its way of celebrating and here are how local celebs, from Fann Wong to Ya Hui, commemorated Father’s Day 2022.
To mark the occasion, Fann Wong shared a sweet family moment where the family of three — including Christopher Lee and son Zed — had outdoors. We also see where Zed get his playful side from (answer: his dad).
Rui En shared a cute throwback photo featuring a younger version of her with her dad together with a hilarious and relatable caption “check out that side eye action. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t still occasionally give him that look.” She thanked him for his “hair genes” and wished happy Father’s Day to all dads, including animal and plant dads.
In this Instagram post of an old family photo with siblings in tow, Elvin Ng shared that it has been 10 years since his father passed. Elvin also wished that his dad is eating, living and sleeping well.
With a photo of him and his father on holiday overseas, Chen Hanwei shared a short and sweet message. He wished dads everywhere health and happiness and finished with a message of love to his own father.
It seems that Father’s Day was a date night for Joanne Peh and Qi Yuwu who celebrated with a kilogram of lamb ribs and white wine. Joanne also thanked her husband and shared this message to everyone else, “To all the strong silent dads out there, and new dads who aren’t getting enough rest at the moment, Happy Father’s Day and remember to take care of yourself so you can take care of the family!”
In this post, Carrie Wong shared that her dad was initially against getting a dog. Now, he loves the dog very much, going as far as handwashing the dog’s clothes daily and showering her with kisses. Carrie added, “To my dad that has endless love for our family. I’m so lucky to be your daughter. Happy Father’s Day daddy”.
Ya Hui celebrated the occasion by pulling a prank on her father! The joke was actually a way for Ya Hui to plant a kiss on her father, which she succeeded much to both of their delights. She added that she wanted to cherish the time they had together and did the bold move.
While it wasn’t explicitly done for Father’s Day, Romeo Tan had a double celebration for his father as the older Tan celebrated his 69th birthday over the weekend. Romeo shared a photo of the festivities that included a cake topped with a taxi driver, sharing that it was the father’s occupation for over four decades to support the family.
Xu Bin was busy filming on Father’s Day so he was especially heartened to receive special handmade drawings from his two kids when he returned home. He also wished fellow dads a happy Father’s Day.
It was a family affair at the Tay household. Three generations gathered for a dinner at Supply & Demand and celebrated over food and drinks. Hong Huifang also wished all fathers health and happiness.
ICYDK, Edmund Chen and son Chen Xi were featured in The Straits Times where they delved into their father-son relationship. Chen Xi added on the Instagram post thanking him for “always being there for the family, and being the pillar of the house. Always here for you too ” Wife Xiang Yun also posted a photo of the couple and wished him and all fathers a happy Father’s Day.
With a photo of his dad, Shaun Chen asked his followers whether they found the future him to be handsome or not. He added well-wishes to his dad, wishing him happiness and health.
Yvonne Lim used food to express love to her husband Alex Tien, by making him a dish of salmon fried rice cake with edible rice paper flowers. Sharing a happy family photo with children AJ and Alexa, Yvonne also expressed gratitude to everything Alex has done for the family.
