Make your own luncheon “meatballs” by just cutting the canned meat into bite-sized cubes, coating them in breadcrumbs, and deep-frying them. There’s also an accompanying sauce that comprises common pantry staples like oyster sauce, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce.

Just like ham and cheese is a match made in food heaven, cheese and luncheon go swimmingly. And even more so when coated with bread crumbs and deep-fried to create these crunchy fingers that ooze gooey stretchy cheese (use a soft melty cheese like mozzarella for that satisfying cheese pull) when you bite into them.

Reminiscent of a handroll, the luncheon meat musubi originated as a Japanese-Hawaiian fusion snack. Sushi rice is shaped into a rectangular block, and a slice of luncheon meat marinated with spam goes on top. It’s then wrapped with a piece of nori or seaweed.

As if fried luncheon meat wasn’t addictive enough, this recipe turns Japanese rice and furikake into crisp, crunchy morsels you won’t get enough of. Extra bonus points for the ‘flower’ made using eggs and avocado.
This TikTok video uses luncheon meat in place of bread like you otherwise would in an Egg In A Hole recipe. Eggs are beaten and combined with vegetables, then poured into the cut-outs of spam slices and pan-fried. A fun snack or meal add-on for the kids, we think.
The kids will love this cute breakfast option that’s fun to eat. All you have to do: Place slices of bread into a muffin tray to create an edible “cup”, then add ingredients like luncheon meat and eggs. You can make these with literally any breakfast-type ingredients, from mushrooms to eggs and sausages.
Together with mashed potatoes, luncheon meat takes the place of ground meat (no extra cooking required!) in this recipe that nods to the korokke or Japanese croquette.
This recipe is inspired by McDonald’s China’s launching of a Spam and Oreo burger late last year that sees the pork product topped with Oreo crumbs and the brand’s signature burger sauce.
Bizarre or interesting? We have yet to try this one out so we have no idea how it’ll pan out.
