Why so serious in black and white? We love these bold bright outfits at Star Awards 2017

Many stars kept their outfits ‘safe’ by opting for black and white numbers at last night’s Star Awards 2017. These celebrities, however, shined with their bright and bold ensembles

At last night’s Star Awards 2017 ceremony, all eyes were on Zoe Tay who was in the running for the Best Actress award alongside starlets Jeanette Aw, Jesseca Liu, Rebecca Lim and Rui En.

The veteran actress eventually emerged as the winner, taking home the coveted trophy last night, 21 years after her first Star Awards Best Actress win in 1996.

But our eyes were also on Tay for another reason; the bold jumpsuit  that she was wearing.   It immediately caught our eyes and stood out from the sea of black and white outfits worn by the other celebrities.

Don’t get us wrong. We have absolutely nothing against opting for black and white suits and gowns for an important night like this. It’s just that with so many celebrities reaching for the same black-and-white combo, the excitement of seeing our favourite celebrities show up at the most important showbiz event of the year had somehow died down.

Thankfully, red carpet darlings Zoe Tay, Krystal Jung, Felicia Chin and Joanne Peh (just to name a few) came to the rescue with their bright and brilliant fashion choices.

We’re especially digging Tay’s Schiaparelli jumpsuit—which she wore with a pair of Cartier Les Oiseaux Libérés earrings—as well as Jung’s traffic-stopping yellow dress which was the perfect example to dispel the myth that gowns are red carpet must-haves.

So, which other celebrities stole our hearts with their #winning outfits from this year’s Star Awards? Scroll through the gallery to find out now.
