Hot mamas: 9 singaporean celeb mums who are killin' it
We can’t speak enough on the challenges a mother faces. The struggles of a modern mum have been well-documented, involving a tricky balancing act. It’s a wonder how they stay sane! This Mother’s Day, we pick 10 celebrity mums who look stylish and gorgeous, while juggling the roles of their work and motherhood. Kudos to them.
Former MTV VJ Teh May Wan is a mother of two daughters, Leala, 10 and Siena, 8, but boy is she still looking lit! Known for being one half of “May and Choy” — together with her twin sister Teh Choy Wan — May has since moved onto other ventures, such as hosting, home-baking and fitness.
However, the 37-year-old has admitted that working out is hard work, involving perseverance and the right eating, adding that it’s something she only embarked on seven years after the birth of her second child. And the results have been obvious. May has this to say to those longing for her bikini bod: If she can do it, so can you.
Singaporean singer-songwriter Tay Kewei and her Singaporean singer and athletics coach husband Alfred Sim welcomed their first child — a boy — in September 2017. Since then, the talented songbird, who has six albums under her belt, has been posting adorable photos of the two of them out and about with their son, whom they affectionately call “Momo”.
Known for her quirky and edgy style, the sexy mama put on 15 kg (from 45kg to 60 kg) during her pregnancy, but quickly bounced back to her pre-pregnancy figure, which she says was because of her religiously wearing a binder and shapewear for about six weeks, as well as breastfeeding exclusively.
Oh and did we mention she and Alfred held a super cool gangster-themed party — complete with gold chains and tattoos for their son’s month-old party?
She’s known for her many talents — she’s a musician, an entrepreneur (she’s the managing director of Elementary Co), a writer and more, but the effervescent Aarika Lee is most known for her impeccable fashion sense, thanks to her head-turning head wraps and penchant for brightly coloured outfits.
Married to homegrown musician THELIONCITYBOY, Aarika, who is mother to two children, Zola Mae and Ari Jon, counts Beyonce as her style inspiration.
And we can certainly see some of Beyonce’s edgy yet sophisticated vibe in Aarika’s various ensembles, but the infectious creative has put her own spin to it. The effect? A vibrant, confident and bold look that is reflected in her creatively curated Instagram account.
Known for her minimalist yet stylish flair, Jessica Tham, who’s also the owner of SOIGNÉ the label, always looks polished and chic with a touch of whimsy. She’s the mother of a 16 month old boy, Eli, who is often featured in her social media accounts as part of her #ootd shots.
Jessica said previously in an interview with By Invite Only that a Jamu massage really helped with slimming her postpartum belly. She also avoided wearing outfits that did not compliment body parts until she went back to her post-pregnancy figure, so pieces with sleeves, fit-and-flare or loose-fitting dresses, or oversized tops were her garments of choice then.
Of course, these days, the willowy social media influencer is back to her slender self, and is often seen in feminine and flowy dresses and skinny jeans.
This former fashion and lifestyle blogger started her blogshop Ohsofickle when she was just 15. In 2014, Tammy made waves when she announced in a blog post that she was pregnant at 24 and was planning on becoming a single mother, although she and her partner planned to remain together. She put the store on a hiatus, and went on to run her mother’s interior design firm Imagine by SK66 after delivering her son Elroy.
The social media personality also continued to actively post on Instagram and produce beauty-related content on YouTube. She has since delivered a second child, Elliee, and in an interview with Vulcan Post, says she hopes to revive her online fashion store now that she has bounced back to her pre-pregnancy body and feels more confident in dressing up and modelling for the clothes.
Korean-Australian entertainment journalist Yvette King gives off such a sophisticated and elegant vibe that you can’t help thinking she resembles a cross between Nicole Kidman and Isla Fisher. Best known as a host of E! News Asia and an anchor of Fox Sports News, Yvette, whose first job was a video journalist for The Daily Telegraph online, is also mum to three-month-old twin girls, whom she delivered naturally at 35 weeks in February. But she hardly looked like she just gave birth a mere three months ago — the stunner showed off her post-pregnancy body just less than a month later, and she looked like she had lost most of her weight. She has been eating sushi, pre-cut fruit and having coffee, and while she won’t be going to the gym for a while, “breastfeeding is the new workout anyways”, she quipped in a post. A month later, she was back at an E! News Asia event! What a sport.
Not to be mistaken for the previous Jamie, former beauty queen and actress Jaime Teo, who has a nine-year-old daughter, is quite the multi-hyphenate. She sings (raise your hand if you remember she was part of a girl band, One-Fifth), paints and co-owned cupcake chain Twelve Cupcakes with ex-husband Daniel Ong.
But these days, the 42-year-old Fly Entertainment artiste is known for her fitness pursuits (she has abs, mind you), regularly posting her workout sessions on Instagram. Her skinny physique is all thanks to her love for all things fitness — she dabbles in squash, yoga, HIIT, dance, weight-lifting and more. #inspo
The former TV and radio presenter might be 42 this year, but she looks just shy of 35, due to her baby-faced features and slim figure. The mother of two — she has an 8-year-old daughter Alysia with former husband Thorsten Nolte and 18-month-old son Luke with current husband, a British expatriate named Rupert — sports an enviable post-baby bod.
Now a social media consultant, influencer and emcee, Jamie is still recognisable for her big bright smile, and is often seen chilling with her kids at their gorgeous home or hosting gigs at events.
Scroll through the feed of Singapore-based celebrity Sonya Davison, and you’d be green with envy. The gorgeous Thai-British former model and television host, who is married to American-born Filipino Judd Sanchez, who works in a technology company, sports a lithe figure that is accentuated by striking features and tumbling locks of hair. She also regularly posts snaps of her in bikinis and skin-hugging dresses while on vacation or at some formal shindig.
You’d never guess that she is mum to three-year-old twins Tristan and Raiden. According to Sonya, she lost all her pregnancy weight in just three weeks. She credits factors such as having had strong core muscles before pregnancy, staying active during pregnancy and breastfeeding exclusively after delivering as reasons to her body bouncing back in shape so quickly.
