Local model Sheila Sim laughed her way into 2019, posting this sunshine-drenched selfie along with a sweet message of hope for 2019 to the gram.
She wrote: “Before i go on tonight’s show to welcome 2019, let me first give a big thank you to 2018! Can’t believe it’s already the last day of 2018! 2018, oh, you have been tremendously generous to me! Giving me a love of a lifetime, along with him came my new family that i love. And the cutest kitten that’s now the PR manager of our house! Every year goes by with things you set out to do but didn’t do, BUT you also achieve things that you didn’t intend to achieve. Be grateful for everyday and every opportunity! Dont look back on what could have been. Look forward to what will be. Most importantly, look at the present moment with awareness and appreciate this very moment.”
The former beauty queen and actress wished her followers: “a smooth sailing 2019 in every area, for peace and happiness, for health and wealth” as she shared a montage of her best pics of 2018. She also took a moment to reflect on the past year.
“Just want to share that my biggest lesson this year… is acceptance. Of things I can change and cannot, of decisions I have made that seemed the best at the time I made it, of my flaws and limitations, of myself in the different roles I play. I feel like I loved myself more this year,” she said.
The fresh-faced actress gave her fans some food for thought as she embraced 2019 with love, happiness and a delicious spread of food. She captioned this snap: “Believe that miracles will happen in 2019 Happy new year everyone!”

She posted a picture of her holding her late grandma’s hand on social media and wrote: “Hold on to your loved ones. Spend time with them. I am still learning. Mama, you have been a rock to the whole family. No words can ever describe how thankful I am for you. I guess, this is love. Loving one another, the beauty of the heart and the power of love which heals and comforts the broken hearted. Some thoughts that came into my mind. Still, I thank God for my grandma’s life and the love that is pouring into my whole family in this period of time. 2018, I am grateful for you. For you have given, sowed, stretched me, broke me down and piecing me back together again. I am thankful, for you.”
The “Eat Already?” star got a bit philosophical on New Year’s Eve.
And it was good advice, he wrote: “In the new year, we’d all hope for more good people to help us along the way, good things to happen and greater positivity, and less of the bad and negative which try to get us down, but it all first starts from the self. It’s an exciting and promising prospect lined up, full of potential and possibilities, and we’re up for it, 2019! The way is forward always. Blessed new year, everyone!”
The celeb mum compiled a comprehensive mosaic of her memorable moments from 2018, including her recent holiday to Khai Nai Island with her husband and fellow entertainer Andie Chen, her Starhub Night of Stars hosting gig and the unfortunate health scare where her son Aden was rushed into A&E due to a middle ear infection on the eve of the Lunar New Year.
