Besides visiting your relatives and friends as well as savouring festive goodies, there are many other things to do throughout the Chinese New Year period. Some of our homegrown celebs shared the fit, fun and funny things that they did this week.

Fitness enthusiasts Lawrence Wong, Sheila Sim and Jade Seah made sure to clock in some workouts amidst the busy CNY celebrations. Fann Wong and her son Zed Zed spent an afternoon exploring exotic-looking fishes at an aquatic pet shop. Meanwhile, Rui En received a "nonsense" angbao and Zoe Tay tried to make eggs 'stand up' on Li Chun. Keep scrolling to read more!

Fann Wong, fun and erm… fishes!

If you’ve been following Fann on her IG, you’ll notice that she spends a lot of bonding time with her son Zed Zed. On day three of CNY, the mother and son (Christopher, who’s in Taiwan busy filming joined them via FaceTime) visited an aquatic pet shop to admire the different fish species, giving us a quick crash course on exotic looking species like Lionfish, Reef Triggerfish and more. Zed even went home with two new pet fishes — how’s that for a fun day out!

Kit Chan caught a movie

Attending the 23rd anniversary screening of the 1999 local cult movie Eating Air at The Projector, Kit was smitten by the film which she guest starred in. “It was sooo [sic] much better than I remembered it to be, and it is totally inspiring,” she wrote on her Instagram caption. And since it’s an action romance flick, Kit is recommending it as a must-watch this Valentine’s Day. Duly noted!

Receiving and giving angbaos is a common tradition during CNY. Funnily, for Rui En, she got a “special” red packet this year. According to her Instagram Story, she got an angbao from fitness studio BFT One North and instead of money, it included a slip of paper with “18 push-ups” written on it. What a pleasant surprise... not.

The actress' reaction: “What kind of nonsense angbao.” We can’t help but chuckle at this.

While most of us were still busy with CNY visiting, Sheila and her hubby Deon Woo and daughter Layla went hiking. It was Sheila’s “first hike in a really, really long time”. Judging from the happy faces, we’re guessing the blissful family had a great time enjoying the nature.

Since her helmet is cracked, cycling enthusiast Jade needed to get a new one. So, she headed to bicycle shop Specialized Singapore to try on some new helmets, learning about the differences between Asian and Western fits at the same time. We gotta say she looked pretty cool in those options!

Zoe Tay tried balancing eggs

Celebrating Li Chun on the fourth day of CNY, Zoe and her kids got their hands on some eggs and tried balancing them on a flat surface. It is said that if you can get an egg to stand on a flat surface on this day, you’ll have good fortune for the rest of the year. After multiple tries, Zoe finally got not one but three eggs to ‘stand up’. Huat ah!

Fiona Fussi had a go at pottery

Trying out pottery for the first time, Fiona had a fun time making bowls and plates with her friends at The Art Bones Studio. Fiona said in her Instagram caption that using the pottery wheel is "much harder than it looks". Yes, we (along with anybody who's tried this before will) totally agree.
