These famous faces took to the gram to show us all the ways they celebrated Chinese New Year 2019 with family and friends. Scroll through the gallery to have a look at their CNY gatherings and reunions.
Getting children to pose for the camera can be a challenge. We don’t know how she did it, but props to this celeb mum for getting both her kids in frame – and smiling.
The pretty mum of two, who moved to Taiwan in 2014 after marrying Alex Tien, formerly of Taiwanese boy band B.A.D., posted this snap of the family all dressed up for the occasion, along with the caption: “Finally a decent family photo to wish everyone a great start to the year!” A beautiful family pic, indeed.

The local actor is all about maintaining traditions and spending quality time with family, no matter how busy he is. He posted this family portrait and wrote: “Small family gathering, cos we’re still missing half the kampong!” We can’t help but wonder how big Elvin’s family is.

There’s plenty for fans to celebrate as celebs like Jeanette Aw head back home to Singapore from their travels to prepare for the Chinese New Year.
The actress was in Toyko, Japan, doing a patisserie course at renowned hospitality education institution, Le Cordon Bleu, in Shibuya.
The actress, who will complete her patisserie course in July, was also on hand to attend the movie premiere of “Ramen Teh,” an Eric Khoo production about a young Japanese chef trying to connect with his Singapore family.
Last Chinese New Year, Singapore actors Kate Pang and Andie Chen had to rush their son Aden to the hospital because of a middle ear infection.
#cny2019 is a lot more peaceful for the Chen family. Kate, who flew back to her home city of Taiwan with her family on the second day of CNY, posted this snap of her and her two kids with the caption: “Guess where we are? When my daughter saw this backdrop, she turned to me and asked for her photo to be taken. Let’s be tourists together!”
Kate and kids were at Changi Airport’s “Wizarding World Holiday at Changi Airport”, which runs until mid-February 2019.
The veteran actress was working on Chinese New Year’s eve. Our favourite Ah Jie was part of the Chinese New Year’s Eve countdown show in Chinatown, and like the pro she is, did not miss out on wishing her 169,000 Instagram followers good luck and prosperity in the Year of the Pig. Looking radiant and well-rested, she wrote: “Happy New Year, may you have a smooth sailing, prosperous and peaceful year ahead!”
What better way to usher in the Year of the Pig than to cosy up with man’s best friend?
In this candid shot, the “Find Me a Singaporean” host is spending some cuddle time with her dog, Man Man, a Japanese Spitz. She posted this a-dog-rable snap on her social media, saying: “Bring your fur kid along to your CNY gatherings, it will bring lots of joy to people around you!”
Floral prints for the Spring Festival are just so apt. Case in point: Carrie Wong’s #cnyootd. The actress got in the mood for the Chinese New Year in a bohemian-looking frock with a floral design, so reminiscent of the ’70s.
Just like last year, Joanne Peh and her husband, fellow actor Qi Yuwu, spent Chinese New Year in Guangzhou, China, where the latter is based.
The actress looks breathtaking sans makeup in this welfie, which she captioned: “Home with the family in Guangzhou to celebrate Chinese New Year — finding time to date, exercise, run errands, while managing a preschooler and a toddler who lucky for us, discovered a game of picking up “small durians” (says Baby Qi to her brother) and arranging them around the trees. This is how we’d be ushering in the Year of The Pig. What about you?”
While Joanne ushered in the Year of the Pig in Guangzhou, “Doppelganger” star Christopher Lee made his return to sunny Singapore to celebrate the Lunar New Year with wife Fann Wong and 5-year-old son Zed.
The cheeky Zed made us chuckle with the lion dance costume he wore when he received his father at the airport.
Just like us, celebs spend their Lunar New Year surrounded by loved ones. This star-studded photo features the “Doppelganger” star, her rumoured beau and fellow actor, Ian Fang, as well as familiar faces, Elvin Ng and Romeo Tan.
Actress-singer Cheryl Wee ushered in the Lunar New Year with her husband Roy Fong and one-year-old son. The celebrity mum posted this snap of the family in matching outfits and wished everyone a blessed year ahead.
