Joanne Peh's million dollar ring? This and other backstage moments you didn't see from 2018 Star Awards
The television event of the year arrived on Sunday night (22 Apr), and with them, a slew of stars descended for the big show. And while much of the action was onstage, where stars like Nathan Hartono got the crowd on its feet, there was more to be seen and heard before the lights dimmed and the crowd went wild. Here is a sneak peek of what happened behind the scenes of the 2018 Star Awards.
Rebecca who bagged the “Best Actress” for her role in “The Lead”, a drama about a group of friends trying to make it big in the show business posted this Instagram story post where she expressed her gratitude to veteran actress Zoe Tay who made her soup. In another snap, the 31-year-old actress was seen sharing chats with Elvin Ng before the show.
In the same snap, Ian Fang, her best-friend-forever and rumoured romantic squeeze made a surprising guest appearance. It seems Ian (who was seated a few rows behind her) was also the first to stand up to clap and cheer on for Rebecca when she was announced the winner.
The “118” actress who made the cut for the prestigious “Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes” award posted this cheeky Instagram post where she teased fellow actress and “118” co-star He Ying Ying for taking up too much space with train of her gown.
It’s nice to see how chummy these two are even though filming for the long-running drama wrapped a few months back.
The gorgeous Taiwanese actress who was in town to present the “Best Newcomer Award” along with singer Prince Chiu took to the gram to share how delightfully surprised she was to see that her makeup was still intact in spite of the humid weather in Singapore.
The “Queen of Caldecott” shared this snap of her and longtime bestie when the cameras aren’t rolling. And that’s not all – Zoe also took a series of wefies with “Best Actress” winner Rebecca Lim. But you can’t possibly turn down a selfie opp with the veteran actress, can you?
The Sing!China finalist who was made the shortlist for “Top 40 Popular Artistes” may have gone home emptyhanded, but she’s already a winner in our book with hunky actor Elvin Ng walking down the red carpet beside her.
The cheeky singer even thanked the production crew in her post for pairing her with the handsome actor. The singer who hosted the Channel U documentary “National Flavours” also snagged a wefie with her doppelganger Xiang Yun.
Getting children to pose in front of the camera can be quite the challenge. We’re not sure how he did it, but props to winner of the “Bioskin Most Charismatic Award” Elvin who used his charisma to get little Aden (Andie Chen and Kate Pang’s four-year-old son) in the frame.
The good-looking actor who seems to have an affinity with children posted this cute picture and wrote, “Vivian (Lai) actually told Aden to get in the frame so we can take a “family portrait #rehearsals #sa2018sg.”
Another celeb who cuddled up to the oh-so adorable Aden was Romeo Tan. The “Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes” recipient captioned the picture and said, “You never know if you’re able to get a selfie with Aden. It all boils down to how he’s feeling. Today is my lucky day.”
Carrie congratulates her “Dream Coder” co-star for his “Best Actor” win. She posted this wefie with the “When Duty Calls” actor and wrote, “Happiest news of the day. Congrats best actor!!! @thedesmondtan.”
The actress and mother-of-two who was decked out in bling from Swiss luxury label Piaget looked like a million bucks (literally). She showed off this precious gemstones and pearls ring that is worth more than half a million dollars!
Commercial breaks are probably the best time for artistes to take photos with their colleagues and post it on social media, as demonstrated by Felicia Chin and fellow Victoria Junior College alumnus Lee Teng. The “Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes” winner also snagged a picture with fellow actors Romeo Tan and Zhang Zhen Huan.
