Since Phase 2 coincided with the Father’s Day weekend, it was only natural for Singaporeans to be in a celebratory mood. While some posted vintage pictures and videos of their fathers on social media, others hosted intimate Father’s Day dinners (of not more than five people, of course) at home.
Several local celebs also shared their love for the father figures in their lives on social media. Here’s a round up of some of the most heartwarming celebrity Father’s Day messages we saw on the ‘gram:
Television veteran Zoe Tay shared a video of a customised video book on Instagram to thank her hubby . The couple has been together for more than 20 years and has three sons.
In the caption, Zoe shares that she’s grateful for the hard work her husband puts into the family and states (in mandarin) that “being a father isn’t easy”.
If you follow Nadiah M.Din on Instagram, you’ll see many pictures of her family. For Father’s Day, the Mata Mata actress took the celebrations one step further by going live with her husband on Instagram. While exchanging casual banter with each other, they also answered questions on religious topics from Nadiah’s followers.
The multi-hyphenate posted a cover photo of his father on Instagram and captioned it “papa”. But if you scroll to the next picture, there’s a goofy shot of Benjamin posing behind his dad.
It seems like Joanne Peh and husband Qi Yuwu, one of Singapore’s power couples, decided to stay in during Father’s Day.
As always, Peh posted a light-hearted and positive caption on Instagram: “Even though we’re not in a rush to head out, the emotional shackles have somewhat dissolved with Phase 2. Even the rain fails to dampen our mood as we celebrate Father’s Day, with the man who made it all happen. 😝 Happy Father’s Day!”
We love local comedian Sharul Channa for her unabashed comebacks and witty humour.
But when it comes to Father’s Day, SG’s funny gal shared a heartfelt message on Instagram that left us all teary eyed.
The Her World Tribe member writes: “Happy Father’s Day, Papa. Thank you for working hard to provide us all with an education, always putting our wishes before your own, always reminding us of our middle-class values and always being so giving and open-hearted.
Loved being the one always being carried by you and sitting on your lap! ❤️🌼 Stay happy and healthy, always! And to all fathers out there – have a great one!!!”
Kate Pang surprised husband Andie Chen with a crepe cake from Lady M. The couple often promotes healthy family values on their Instagram, and have even shared some of the more more un-glamorous aspects of what goes on behind-the-scenes. We’re glad to see celeb couples keeping it real on the gram!
Nurul Aini is one of the stars of Lion Mums, a local drama. On Father’s Day, the mum-of-three shared a sweet photo of her father and her.
Prior to this post, she also shared another family photo and thanked her husband in the caption.
Local actor Xu Bin embraced fatherhood a year ago and this Father’s Day, he shared that he remains grateful and thankful to be a father.
Joel Choo took to Instagram to share his appreciation for his father Choo Houren, who’s a veteran in the local television scene.
And if you swipe to the second picture, it seems like Choo Houren is in the running for coolest dad ever.
Local model and actress Sheila Sim posted a lengthy but touching note to her father on the gram. She writes:
“Happy Father’s Day to my Hero.
Parenthood doesn’t come with a book. But for what it’s worth, my dad did a fantastic job.
Papa, you didn’t have parents to take care of you when you were young, and you were probably the most rebellious in your family. But thank you for instilling all the right values in me. Even though we nv had much at all, you always found a way to feed me, to protect me, to get me the newest gadgets in the littlest that you had. You never once made our life feel insufficient or inadequate.
I grew up eating like you (loving indian food), talking like you, have a bad temper like you. I also grew up with determination, independence, empathy and objective mindset like you. Thank you for all the great gifts you have passed on to me. I will be sure to pass them on to baby when she’s here.
I’m so lucky to be your daughter. I love you! Happy Fathers Day, Papa!”
Another power couple from Singapore’s entertainment scene chose to stay home for Father’s Day. Fann Wong and husband Christopher Lee celebrated with a hand drawn card by their five year-old son.
Desmond Tan snagged his dad a gift from Dior and whipped up what looked like a generous serving of Prawn Mee for Father’s Day.
He also took the chance to share a short but sweet message to his father on the gram.
