How did you celebrate Christmas? Some of us spent it with our loved ones over a meal of good food and company. Or perhaps, you were out of Singapore soaking up the last of the festive season as we count down the last days of the year as we approach 2023. Local celebrities, whether it was Zoe Tay, Fann Wong, Rui En, Rebecca Lim or Felicia Chin, to name a few, commemorated the festivities just like us. Here was what they did:Over the holiday weekend, local celebrities have been celebrating Christmas with their loved ones and posting their season’s greetings on Instagram.
Zoe Tay shared a video of her enjoying the snow during her holiday to Niseko, Japan adding the following well-wishes “I hope your holiday is full of love, peace and joy!”
On her Instagram Stories, Zoe Tay was actually in Batam, Indonesia instead with two friends as she posted pictures of the food and sights they enjoyed.
Fann Wong was another celebrity who celebrated Christmas overseas. With husband Christopher Lee and son Zed in tow, Fann Wong shared a clip of the family having a merry time on a coconut boat ride in Hoi An, Vietnam.
Actress Rebecca Lim, 36, and her husband Matthew Webster, 36, who tied the knot in November, shared a sweet picture of them wearing fairy lights around their necks.
Sharing a photo with her husband Jeffrey Xu (the two got married in October 2022), Felicia Chin spent Christmas serving in the church according to her Instagram Stories. She had announced in June 2022 that she was leaving Mediacorp to “move on to a faith-based ministry. “
Joanne Peh and Qi Yuwu stayed home to celebrate Christmas in their new home where they had turkey and ham among other celebratory dishes. She added, “it’s all my husband’s credit for decorating the tree and putting the celebration together” as she is busy with work.
The sun and sand were all Hong Ling, Nick Teo, Cynthia Koh, James Seah and Jasmine Sim needed to make it the perfect Christmas celebration. Their party was held at Rumours Beach Club in Sentosa where they basked in good food, wine and company.
Actor Desmond Tan, 36, also posted photos of him and his wife, whose identity has never been revealed.
Sharing a series of festive snaps from London, where they are on holiday, he was careful to keep her face concealed.
In one hilarious photo, only her hands and feet are seen as he sits on her beside a Christmas tree, while in another photo, shot from the back, he is seen kissing her forehead.
“You’re my favourite Christmas gift,” he wrote in his caption.
Christmas was date night for Belinda Lee and her husband David Moore. She shared in the captions that the couple had “decided the best gift we could give each other was a romantic date night out at a Christmas village where we picked out an immensely beautiful glass blown art-piece called “Sea of Love” for our home.” Belinda Lee is likely still in California visiting family.
Having recently rubbed shoulders with Hong Kong K-pop idol Jackson Wang, Glenn Wong spent Christmas in Genting, Malaysia. Despite his busy schedule, he didn’t forget to update his Instagram with this message: “Merry Christmas, just wanna let you know that you’re very loved!! 🤍✨”
Singer Stefanie Sun, 44, poked fun at herself with a creative photo that spelled out “Merry Christmas”, using her flared nostrils to form the letter M. While the mum of two kept her family out of the photos, she did share snapshots of their celebrations, which featured a lit tree and decorated gingerbread house.
Actress Yvonne Lim, 46, who is based in Taiwan, continued her family of four’s tradition of posing with Santa, donning matching pyjamas for their annual photos.
On a more serious note, actress Rui En, 41, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram of joining a pizza party for those who were feeling lonely over the holidays.
While Rui En didn’t reveal what she did on December 25th, she shared that she participated in a party hosted for those who might feel lonely over the festive period on Christmas Eve. ICYDK, the party, hosted by her friend David Loh and Esther Chua, recently went viral after the duo posted a TikTok video inviting strangers feeling lonely to a pizza party. The party received an overwhelming response and was kept to an intimate size of 15, of which Rui En was among them.
“The festive period is triggering for many. Suicides go up during this period. I personally have felt devastatingly alone despite being surrounded by people, on Christmas and New Year’s countless times before,” she wrote.
“So when I saw the news that David (who’s a friend) and Esther were hosting a pizza party for anyone who perhaps may otherwise be lonely over this period, I felt the need to show up to let those who did know that they’re not alone,” she said, adding the contact details for the Samaritans of Singapore at the end of her post.
“Thank you to those who showed up for making my Christmas Eve the most meaningful one.”
