WandaVision
image

If you can’t get enough of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) on the silver screen, it’s now whetting your appetite with several all-new TV miniseries.

WandaVision kickstarts the fray, starring Marvel Comics characters Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany). Set three weeks after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), the couple settles down into an idyllic, 50s sitcom-influenced suburban life in New Jersey, in the town of Westview, all while trying to hide their true nature. But you’ll soon realise that things aren’t quite as they seem.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

Coming up next is The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which airs on March 19.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, the series sees Anthony Mackie and Sebastian reprising the roles of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes navigating the world post-Endgame. Despite their differences, they team up to deal with an anarchist group, and the story follows the challenges the duo faces as they fight against evil forces.

Watch for plenty of old-fashioned action.

Loki

Tom Hiddleston is back as the iconic villain (or some would say, antihero) and Asgardian God of Mischief in his own TV spin-off.

And since Loki died in Endgame, we can only gather that this is his younger self (seen in Endgame) who made off with the Tesseract (or Space Stone) and is from a separate timeline. You can expect him to get up to no good as he travels through the multiverse with the help of the stolen Space Stone.

Disney+
Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted
custom

You can live vicariously through everyone’s favourite expletive-spouting (none of that in this show, though) celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s travels to some of the most incredible and remote locations on Earth in search of culinary inspiration through his series on National Geographic, Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted.

His journey takes him across locales like West Sumatra, Tasmania, Peru, South Africa, and more, where he learns about other cultures and their foods. He also teams up with local legends to cook feasts for the natives.

The Mandalorian
custom

The epic first-ever live-action series in the Star Wars franchise, “The Mandalorian” is set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi, after the fall of the Empire, and before the emergence of the First Order. It follows Din Djarin, a lone Mandalorian (a fictional race of people from the planet Mandalore) bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy.

Along the way, he finds his soft side as he protects a green alien baby, Grogu, (aka Baby Yoda) from those on his tail.

Raya and the Last Dragon

For both you and the kids, check out Raya and the Last Dragon, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Southeast Asia-inspired fantasy film. And if you aren’t big on visiting the cinema just yet, it is slated to be aired through Disney+ Premier Access alongside its theatrical release on March 5 this year.

The story is set in the realm of Kumandra, a re-imagined Earth inhabited by an ancient civilisation. In order to restore peace, a warrior named Raya embarks on a journey to track down the last legendary dragon to help defeat an evil force.

Kelly Marie Tran (Raya) as well as Crazy Rich Asians’ Gemma Chan (Raya’s nemesis, Namaari), and Awkwafina (Sisu the water dragon) lend their voices to the film.

Disney+
Limitless
custom

We sure can’t get enough of Chris Hemsworth. The Australian actor will star in ‘Limitless’, a series that sees him embarking on a mission to overcome six extraordinary challenges and stretch his physical and mental abilities.

In doing so, he discovers how to live healthier, smarter, and longer. Each episode will see him tackling a different way in which we can live better for longer, from maximising strength to supercharging memory and building resilience. A release date has yet to be announced.

Big Sky

If crime thrillers are your thing, tune in to Star original series Big Sky.

By television writer David E. Kelley of Big Little Lies, the drama follows private detectives Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury) and Cody Hoyt (Ryan Phillippe) who team up with Hoyt’s estranged wife and ex-cop, Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick), to search for two teenage sisters who have been kidnapped by a truck driver on a remote highway in Montana.

But they get drawn into a larger and darker plot, when they discover that these aren’t the only girls who have disappeared in the area. They have to race against the clock to find the women before it’s too late.

Disney+
Toy Story 4
custom

If you didn’t manage to catch Toy Story 4, catch it on Disney+.

A new craft-project-turned toy called “Forky” (a plastic fork with an existential crisis) joins Woody and the gang in the fourth installment of the iconic animated film, and the bunch all go on a road trip together with their new owner Bonnie and her family.

Along the way, Woody meets a long-lost friend, Bo Peep, and as they reminisce the old days, they realise that they’re worlds apart when it comes to what they want from life as a toy. They also meet the sinister Gabby Gabby, an antique talking doll, and her minions – and she wants Woody’s voice box for her own since hers is broken and no one wants to purchase her.

Pixar Popcorn

Pixar fans, some of your favourite characters are set to return in a new series, Pixar Popcorn.

The collection of 10 mini shorts stars fan-favourites like “Toy Story,” “Finding Nemo,” “Cars” and “The Incredibles” in new, bite-sized stories created by Pixar Animation Studios’ animators. The titles have already been laid out by Disney, and include To Fitness and Beyond, featuring Buzz Lightyear; Chore Day: The Incredibles Way, featuring Jack-Jack from the Incredibles universe, and Dory Finding, starring, well, Finding Nemo‘s Dory.

Visit the Disney+ website for newest releases and for more information.
