5 Spring/Summer 2021 fashion trends you'll want to wear all year round
New Age florals

Embrace the season’s New Age florals at Kate Spade New York

While fashion trends are often cyclical, there’s something to be said about the timelessness of florals, come Springtime. This season, the fail-safe print gets a refresh. Case in point: The iconic Spade Flower Jacquard by Kate Spade New York (#01-23/24) is now reimagined in a bold-yet-versatile navy colorway. The brand’s Spring 2021 collection sees the signature print take centre stage on a variety of everyday bags in different shapes and silhouettes, from convenient crossbodies to roomy totes.

Wanderlust chic

Furla Miss Mimi: the perfect accessory for your next holiday getaway

With travel plans disrupted for the past year, it’s safe to say we’re all longing for a getaway. But fret not. This season, escapism fashion takes the lead with holiday-ready looks to satiate that sense of wanderlust (for the time being). The latest collection by Furla (#01-33) pays tribute to the brand’s Italian heritage, while evoking the joy and effortlessness of the season. A highlight is the Furla Miss Mimi. Designed for the go-getting woman, it comes in either a crossbody or tote bag style and is characterised by distinctive boho embellishments in a variety of colours – the perfect accessory for your next (real) holiday getaway too.

This season, Sandro takes inspiration from the South of France

Escape to the South of France with Sandro (#01-25). Taking inspiration from the 70s and 90s, the sultry Spring/Summer 2021 collection is chock-full of beach-ready pieces in warm hues of sand, ochre and vanilla. Think florals intermingled with soft psychedelic zebra stripes, crochet sets, flared trousers and tie-dye patterns. Every piece will have you dreaming of sunny holidays to come.

Experience an endless summer with PALEM

Endless Summer is the theme at PALEM (#02-40), a French brand that celebrates slow fashion while offering timeless pieces fit for a tropical getaway and everyday life. Fall in love with the collection’s range of maxi dresses, floral jumpsuits, patterned kimono tops, and breezy separates – each made from breathable, natural materials for added comfort.

The art of subtlety

Maje nails the art of sexy-but-subtle

With subtle sexiness dominating the runways, this season’s collections are awash with peekaboo details and a less-is-more mentality. Maje (#01-26) toes the line between playful and sophisticated with its Spring/Summer 2021 collection, which includes delicate eyelet babydoll dresses with strategic cutouts, see-through lace shirts, and a retro-chic two-piece knit set that offers glimpses of skin. Offbeat yet playful, this collection will appeal to the romantics.

Urban prep

Tommy Hilfiger brings forth electric hues and sportswear-inspired prep this season

Preppy chic is a tried-and-tested look, but instead of the collegiate tailoring and muted colors of yore, this season’s interpretation melds retro 80s elements with sportswear-inspired silhouettes and electric hues.

Inspired by the coastal prep vibe of Miami, Tommy Hilfiger’s (#01-38-39) Spring 2021 collection features a modern mix of polo shirts, button-up shirts, lightweight dresses, and other effortless pieces – each refreshed with geo prints, hot house florals, stripes, and unexpected silhouettes.

Urban Revivo reimagines preppy chic with a relaxed twist

This season, Urban Revivo (#02-24-26) reimagines preppy chic – with a relaxed twist. Best known for its year-round collection of runway-inspired pieces, its latest collection features classic items with a fresh new take: think sophisticated plaids and ruffles mixed with denim, deconstructed tailoring, and boxy fits that offer up a more innovative take on the trend.

Sustainability

COS’ latest collection includes organic fabrics, zero-waste designs, and even jewellery made from recycled materials

Sustainable fashion has arguably been one of the biggest buzzwords of recent years – because, these days, it’s not just about looking good but doing so without leaving a negative footprint on the environment. Be it through ethical production practices or the use of eco-friendly fabrics, fashion brands have been taking major steps to keep up with this movement.

For Spring/Summer 2021, COS (#01-32) shows its commitment with a majority of materials within its collection being sustainably sourced. Offering statement wardrobe pieces and fresh new takes on sports-inspired styles that are both functional yet luxurious, the collection includes organic cotton fabrics, zero-waste cashmere designs, and even jewellery made from recycled yoghurt pots.

Coach takes on sustainability this season with a collection of new, vintage, and archival designs

This season, Coach (#01-35/35A) explores the themes of responsibility, renewal, and reduction through Coach Forever, a collection of new, vintage and the brand’s archival designs. Made to last from vegetable-tanned, naturally-dyed leather, pieces in the collection include tote bags made completely of recycled materials such as plastic bottles, as well as ready-to-wear looks crafted from upcycled remnants, and vintage pieces given a refresh with embellishments and embroidery.
