What celebs like Zoe Tay and Rebecca Lim wore to Star Awards 2021

We’re bedazzled by the bling, effort and coordination in these show-stopping outfits

by Ho Guo Xiong  /   April 18, 2021

The annual Star Awards was back for its 2021 edition on April 18. This yearly awards ceremony is where we get to watch our favourite Singaporean celebs dressed in their best as they await the results of their acting and hosting efforts from the past year.

This year’s event is also extra special. For the first time, the awards ceremony took place in Changi Airport Terminal 4 and the HSBC Rain Vortex at Jewel (imagine the level of coordination and logistics needed!), with some scenes taken with planes from Singapore Airlines as the backdrop.

Without further ado, keep scrolling to check out what your favourite celebs wore to Star Awards 2021.

Rebecca Lim
custom

Rebecca Lim was one of the celebs who wore a simple black gown done right. Take a look at the backless silhouette of the Alexander McQueen dress trimmed with various sizes of pearls to add extra dimension and flair. The ring on her right hand and the brooch-like details by her collarbone also feature pearls of varying dimensions. Her look is completed with a Longines museum heritage watch from the 1920s and Goldheart jewellery.

Chantalle Ng
custom

Winning praises for her role as a bride from Vietnam in My Star Bride, Chantalle Ng looked nothing short of a princess in her pastel blue Jessica Cindy tulle gown with colourful flower appliques. Her mother, Lin Meijiao, too looked refreshing in her white suit-like jumpsuit with a dramatic tulle train that stood out in the sea of gowns and dresses.

Zoe Tay
custom

Zoe Tay looked nothing short of a present with her Carolina Herrera gown, from the bowtie top to the floral patterned skirt reminiscent of the crepe paper stuffing found in gift boxes. She went with an understated bracelet, earrings and rings to allow the monochromatic dress to remain the focal point.

Hong Ling
custom

We love it when female celebs are willing to take the risk and shed the usual ballgown for something unconventional, such as Hong Ling’s sharp three-piece suit. To ensure a feminine look, the blazer is built with shoulder pads and cinched around the waist for an hourglass shape. Plus, she and Nick Teo took couple dressing to the next level with their twinning outfits.

Felicia Chin
custom

Felicia Chin was another actress that went with a more androgynous approach with her red carpet look. She stated that the suit was a homage to a character she had recently played, who had worn suits in the show. Her blazer is from Ralph Lauren, and she added a gold glimmer with the pointed Louboutin boots.

Fann Wong
custom

Fann Wong wasn’t on the red carpet but she appeared to present the Best Newcomer award alongside Jeanette Aw. Her sparkly, underwater-themed white dress with a bejewelled bustier caught our eyes. Perhaps, this is an outfit that Ariel would wear when she’s on land.

Jeanette Aw
custom

Like Fann, Jeanette showed up for a brief moment on our screens but that was enough to cement her presence at the awards ceremony. Her leggy outfit consists of a Versace blazer, adorned with Cartier’s Panthère de Cartier collection.

Jesseca Liu
custom

Another way to slay the red carpet is to go with a foolproof giant poofy tulle gown such as the Gretel Z haute couture gown Jesseca Liu sports here. Her elegant look is matched with loose waves and Chopard ring, choker and earrings.

Paige Chua
custom

In a sea of solid colours that veer on the darker side, Paige Chua stood out with her brightly coloured patterned Vaughn Tan dress. The fit-and-flare silhouette was simple but it flattered her physique, allowing the print and understated Harry Winston jewellery to shine.

Rui En
custom

Rui En shows that you can take a less-is-more approach on the red carpet and still slay. She took the stage in a black square neckline Solace London body-hugging dress and completed it with understated Cartier jewels.

Joanne Peh
custom

Joanne Peh is no stranger to pulling off amazing looks on the red carpet. As usual, she didn’t disappoint at this year’s Star Awards. Her backless gown is made with a black lace top that gives a peek of the skin underneath, but the spotlight-stealer is definitely the 81.85 carat Harry Winston diamond necklace that hung off her back instead of her neck.

Carrie Wong
custom

What is a red carpet look without some kind of shimmer and shine? Carrie Wong wore an opulent Nicole + Felicia fit-and-flare gown constructed with a deep V-neckline that would have glittered and glowed under the bright lights.

Denise Camillia Tan
custom

Denise Camillia Tan wasn’t afraid to bare some skin. Her white Berta gown is trimmed with feathers, before being adorned with Bulgari jewellery and matched with Gucci platform heels.

Jayley Woo
custom

Jayley Woo took a soft and demure approach with her soft blue Nicole + Felicia layered tulle gown. We also love the straight, slicked-back hairdo that further exemplified the ethereal image. Accessories from Lucere Jewellery and Jimmy Choo shoes completed her look for the night.

Quan Yifeng

Quan Yifeng came ready to steal the show for this year’s awards. She dressed in a striking red dress with puffy sleeves and chunky Damiani jewellery and earrings to complement her equally eye-catching platinum blonde hair with frosted purple tips.

Vivian Lai
custom

Vivian Lai was also not afraid to bare some skin. She wore a black Alex Perry straight neckline dress with an extremely high slit that went all the way up her stomach. Look closely and you’ll see that an illusion is created with nude panelling so that the host can show off her body without fear of any slip-ups. Her look was completed with Damiani jewels.

Fang Rong
custom

Fang Rong took a gamble with an unusual colour choice (at least in Singapore) and it paid off. Her forest green Milla Nova gown features a plunging neckline and a thigh-high slit that shows off her Jimmy Choo heels. Her look is finished with Poh Heng jewellery.
