The countdown has begun on this year’s Star Awards that is slated to happen on April 18. As usual, our eyes will be peeled to look out for the best red carpet looks of the night. After all, the annual award ceremony is a significant event where local celebs such as Fann Wong, Jeanette Aw and Joanne Peh come dressed to impress.
As we await 2021’s Star Awards, here’s a look at some of the most memorable and sexy Star Awards outfits that have made headlines over the years.
True to her elegant and feminine style, Rebecca Lim looked nothing short of a princess in this black Valentino gown that had a dramatic ruffled skirt. Her look was finished with blinged-out Giuseppe Zanotti stilettos and Goldheart jewellery.
Playing with translucency and opacity, Zoe Tay is proof that you can look your best without baring too much skin. The bodycon silhouette, black colourway and floor-length cutting also made her look especially tall and slim as she received the Best Actress win.
Joanne Peh is never one to shy away from revealing some skin on the red carpet. In 2019, she chose the designer of Hannah Quinlivan and Tiffany Tang’s wedding dresses, Mikael D, and wore a semi-circle leopard print dress complete with a thigh-high slit to match her husband’s dashing white Boss suit.
Dressed in a Chanel Spring/Summer 2019 dress that featured various sizes of sequins and a deep V-neckline, Sheila Sim looked sexy, elegant and fashionable all at once.
That year, Fann Wong and husband Christopher Lee clinched the Top Rated Variety Programme for the show The Wedding. She sported a Hermès dress with a plunging neckline matched with a white blazer to show off a modern, sexy and masculine side.
Jeanette Aw’s style usually veers on the sweet and elegant side. But for the 2011 Star Awards, she turned heads when she appeared with a plunging DSquared2 vest and a tulle skirt for the red carpet. To detractors who questioned her sexy outfit, her response was a cool statement: “Confidence is not based on my cup size”. Applause please.
Felicia Chin wore a Paolo Sebastian dress with pink swallows that cleverly covered her private areas, while the see-through tulle showed off skin.
Jesseca Liu wore this see-through and embellished Zuhair Murad Fall/Winter 2017 dress that we can imagine other renowned celebs wearing on a Hollywood red carpet.
A little black dress never fails, such as this deep V-neckline Lanvin Fall/Winter 2018 tulle dress that Carrie Wong wore.
While the cutting of the Burberry gown that Julie Tan wore looks rather similar to that of Carrie Wong’s, the polka dot tulle here adds a touch of playfulness to the sexy look while showing off her legs.
Combined with her makeup and hairstyling, Hayley Woo’s black Halston dress with a high slit and deep V neckline exuded a cool, steely sexiness.
Jayley Woo dazzled on the red carpet when she wore this back-revealing sequinned Salvatore Ferragmo dress with Bvlgari jewellery.
Constance Song turned heads when she appeared in this Jiki Monte Carlo dress. Using tulle, the creation brought a whole new meaning to deep V-necklines, creating possibly the world’s “most plunging neckline”.
Not only did Joanne Peh flaunt her cleavage with this purple Bottega Veneta gown in 2012, but the see-through tulle skirt also showed off the black underwear underneath, giving off a Greek goddess kind of vibe.
