If you didn’t know, Italian luxury label Gucci celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. Adding to the festivities was the reopening of Gucci’s newly revamped flagship store in Marina Bay Sands Shoppes. The store spans two floors or 10,555 square feet, and carries both ladies and menswear across ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, jewellery and accessories as well as Gucci Décor furnishing and the recently launched Gucci Lifestyle line.
To celebrate the store’s reopening, Gucci invited local celebs such as Fann Wong, Jeanette Aw, Rebecca Lim, JJ Lin and Oon Shu An to grace the occasion. Local musicians such as Nathan Hartono, Narelle Kheng, Joel Tan, Jasmine Sokko, Dharni, Shigga Shay, Jonathan Chua, Fariz Jabba and Shye-Anne Brown and fashion influencers Yoyo Cao, Mae Tan, Willabelle Ong and Amanda Chaang were also in attendance.
The opening event started with the preview of the Gucci boutique where guests could appreciate the art installation by Singaporean crochet artist Kelly Lim using fabrics from the Gucci Aria collection. The Floral Fantasy of Gardens by the Bay was also remodelled by Gucci to present a unique and unforgettable experience for the guests.
As part of the celebrations, Gucci added its centennial print on the Rain Oculus of Marina Bay Sands to mark the brand’s 100th anniversary. The towers of the hotel and ArtScience Museum were also lit up that night (November 11) using Gucci’s iconic colours to echo the Gucci Web prints and Gucci Aria series.
Ah jie Fann Wong dressed up the simple white shirt with a Gucci monogram vest, matching horsebit purse and statement-making purple boots.
Jeanette Aw went old school with a sharp red velvet suit with peaked shoulder and an oversized collar shirt.
Rebecca Lim, on the other hand, went with an emerald green suit with a checkered Gucci monogram and a bright yellow purse for a pop of colour.
JJ Lin channelled disco-era fashion with a star-printed suit and wide-legged pants with matching feathered sleeve details.
Oon Shu An took a prim and proper approach with a deep grey jacket and monogrammed tapered pants. The highlight of her outfit is undoubtedly the nude Double G handbag.
Who said guys can’t look great in pink? Just take a look at Nathan Hartono in this sharp pink number with complementary nude loafers.
Jasmine Sokko looked part-equestrian and part-futuristic alien with the combination of her black blazer, matching bermudas, thigh-high boots and a unique facepiece.
Narelle Kheng showed off her boho side with a sleeveless top and a flowy tiered skirt. We love the contrasting purple heels too.
Double denim is not an easy look to pull off but Shye Anne Brown did so with an indigo set and a burst of colour with the bright red sneakers and crossbody bag.
From her makeup to her outfit and square-toe shoes, monochrome was the theme of Kelly Lim’s outfit of the night.
Yoyo Cao showed why she deserves her title of being a style influencer by pairing a shiny green coat dress with a belted bag and a handbag.
Amanda Chaang looked ready for a safari adventure with a brown playsuit and black boots. We also liked how she used the white horsebit handbag as a colour accent to her neutral get-up.
Style influencer Willabelle Ong didn’t disappoint with her preppy take on a suit set by including a pair of spectacles and white square toe horsebit block heels.
Fariz Jabba stuck close to his streetwear style by pairing the printed co-ord set with bright red kicks and a crossbody bag.
Joel Tan of Gentle Bones went with an everyday casual outfit by pairing an oversized jacket with appliques with distressed straight-cut jeans.
Another man who wasn’t afraid of pink, Dharni accented his outfit with an emerald velvet blazer, shorts and matching chunky shoes. His socks, camera and camera bag also complemented the brown trim of the shorts.
We like how Shigga Shay eschewed the traditional tailored silhouette of men’s suiting with a loose-fit style involving an oversized blazer and wide-legged trousers.
Jonathan Chua showed what an everyday Gucci outfit could look like – a jacket, black T-shirt and dark wash jeans with clean white sneakers.
