The tie-dye trend is taking over the world and here are all the pieces you need
Here's how to rock the tie-dye trend
Once a trend reserved for the hippy flower power crowd, the nostalgic tie-dye has re-emerged in recent times with an edgier and more contemporary street-style.
We saw it on celebs such as Beyonce and Justin Bieber, and then it became a catwalk trend, with brands such as Prada, Proenza Schouler, Stella McCartney, ASAI and Ashley Williams giving their take on the new tie-dye.
Another piece that shows tie-dye can be uber fashionable is this denim number from MSGM. Crafted from cotton denim, this skirt elevates the boring denim skirt with a youthful and dynamic print. Not just that, it has a high waist with a straight fit, and button fastening all the way down the front. It would look fab with white sneakers and a white crop tee, complete with your favourite shades.
3. Staud Penny tie-dye jersey midi skirt, US$167.73 (S$226.91) from Net-a-Porter
Fresh and feminine, this lightweight jersey skirt is an ah-mah-zing choice for our Singapore climate. It would look fab either with black boots and a black turtleneck for the office, or with flip flops and a white bralet for casual beach vibes.
6. Recycled capsule collection tie-dye raincoat, S$69.90 from Zara
Calling all the cool kids who adore street style: Check out this new contrast raincoat with an adjustable collar. Not only is it on fleek, it’s from Zara’s Join Life collection and is made from 100 per cent recycled polyester. Recycled polyester is made from recycled plastic bottles and consumes less water, less energy and fewer natural resources — so you’re both stylish and environmentally friendly. Win-win.
Isn’t this number cute? The base is an off-white hue, with black dye print splattered sporadically all over the piece. Bonus: The print on each skirt is unique. This skirt would work well if you dress it up with a blazer and blouse, or opt for a punkier vibe with a logo band tee and sneakers.
