Sneakers for the stylish girls: Too good to work out in
For the modern and stylish women out there, this one's for you
Don’t get us wrong, heels and flats are amazing but nothing beats a good ol’ (or new) pair of sneakers.
The great thing about this footwear is that it’s so versatile that they can be worn with more than one outfit and for more than one occasion – making them great investments. They are perfect for hectic days when you need blisters to be the last thing on your mind. But of course, you wouldn’t want to be wearing something you’d see in the gym, right?
So to make your life a lil’ bit easier, here are 12 sneakers that are just too good to workout in, for the modern, stylish girls out there.
A stand-out sneaker style, this pair builds on the much-loved Suede Heart trainer – with a pebbled texture and soft pastel suedes. It contrasts perfectly with the sheen of the satin bow that gives it a luxurious style. It’s a unique shoe that you would not want to miss out on.
If you do plan to cop these, be sure to match it with a pastel pink top or blazer.
The Suede Heart Pebble is also available in a baby blue and cool grey shade. Available here.
Donning CDG’s playful bug-eyed heart, this ‘70s classic is nowhere near ‘old fashioned’.
This cheeky reboot to Converse’s cult-favourite Chuck Taylors adds a whimsical spin to your outfit, while keeping things at minimal with an all-round off-white physique.
This pair has canvas uppers, a rubber toe cap and outsole. Available here.
Although it was launched two years ago in 2016, Gucci’s Ace sneakers have earned a following with high-profile celebs like Alessandra Ambrosio donning them. This revamped pair sports the House’s heritage webbed stripes and the iconic golden bumble bee motif that adds a little flair, alongside the metallic watersnake at the heel. Available here.
You might remember seeing these from Miu Miu’s disco-themed pop-up here in Singapore. If you didn’t manage to get your hands on them then, you can now. They come with a calf leather upper and leather lining. For added texture, Miu Miu added a little pink tweed lining and an adorable sequined poodle.
With its minimalist exterior – and sprinkle of glitter – you could easily wear this when you’re needing something a little more feminine and versatile. Available here.
Axel Arigato Clean 90 Embroidered Sneakers, US$187
If you haven’t heard of Axel Arigato, it’s time you should. The Swedish footwear brand combines the minimal aesthetics of Scandinavia and Japan to create shoes of the finest Italian leather. This ‘Clean 90’ pair is embellished with flying bee-eater birds in bold colours for a pop of colour. Across the white leather front, the brand’s name is stamped in gold lettering. Definitely not for the gym, ladies. Available here.
Also from Miu Miu are these lamb leather sneakers that we think truly capture the essence of the 90’s – black and white checkered laces, graphic patches.
They’re perfect for when you wanna bring out your inner rock chick, so prepare to bring out your leather skirt and studded military jacket. Available here.
Tory Burch created this pair to reflect the summery mood – and we have to say that it’s nothing short of that. It brings in colourful stripes in nostalgic colours against a white (also old school) smooth leather exterior.
For added flair, the shoe dons ruffles and of course, the logo in navy at the back. Honestly if we could have this in a snap, we would. Available here.
Also from the Gucci Ace line, this pair is perfect if you want to add a little more bling to your step. Compared to the regular Gucci Ace, this one has 4cm platform that’s embellished with crystals – and we’re absolutely loving it!
It also sports the webbed stripes, golden bumble bee motif and metallic red and blue water snake at the heel. Available here.
This pair is inspired by the infamous ‘Daisy’ fragrance that revolves around well… daisies and the carefree spirit. It’s no doubt that these shoes exhibit that same emotion with its all-white leather exterior and minimal yet glimmering appliqués. The floral appliqués are bedazzled with crystal clusters to resemble the perfume bottle itself.
We say wear this with a white top or dress, or any kind of denim be it a jacket, jeans or dress. But of course, it’s versatile colour means it goes well with almost every fit. Available here.
Injecting a lil’ bit of fun, this pair from Puma features more than one texture and a couple of bold but enticing colours. While it brings a floral kick to the 90’s grunge, it also pays tribute to the good ol’ days with a pastel blue velvet formstrip and a chunky platform to accentuate your height. Wear this any way you want – but we’d recommend a pair of light blue denim jeans.
If a classy pair of sneakers is what you want, these would be the ones for you. To freshen things up, the Blazer comes dressed in a glossy satin and touches of leather to keep everything tonal. For comfort – a foam sockliner that’ll keep you walking for hours.
This’ll be the go-to shoe if you want to keep things at a minimal, while having a little twist to make it trendy. Available in pink here and platinum here.
Put a spin to printed sneakers and wear this beautifully contrasting pair out. At first they may seem like a little too much, but hey, they’re actually pretty good.
These sneakers are crafted from textured leather (in Italy, no less) and has a graphic monochrome print perfect for making a statement.
Go easy on any prints on your clothes, reach out for cropped denim and stick to black or white for the best get-up. Available here.
