I’m all for #supportlocal, so the idea of one of Singapore’s most popular jewellery brands ALT by designer Angie-Lai Tay joining up with the graduate students from Lasalle College of the Arts for a runway show on Day 2 of Singapore Fashion Week, was a good one.
However, for some of us, the only new things on the runway were Angie’s interesting jewellery pieces that consisted of metal epaulettes and smooth, minimalist neckpieces, since the four collections on show had mostly been seen at the BA(Hons) Fashion Design and Textiles Programme runway show in May, 2016. The four collections on show did have a couple of extra pieces but overall there wasn’t much change from what I’d previously seen – you can read all about it in my blog post More Singapore fashion students … A review.
Agnes Cito and Cheryl Teo’s Aryl Ctto; Esther Choy’s Esh; Chua Gui Ying and Danielle Phua’s Flat Square; and Alexis Fong and Amabel Quek’s Pandora’s Box were all shortlisted by Angie to be paired with the new ALT accessories and in the main they looked great together.
PS. I have to say, that there was an issue with the staging of the show. As you will see in the images in the gallery, the models were all over the place – walking in opposite directions (very stressful for the photographers) and the lighting was overly dark too, making it hard to see the jewellery. Ironically, it’s not the first time the Lasalle students’ runway show was a bit messy – read about it all in the blog. 🙂
