The thrilling revenge-based Netflix series, The Glory, seems to be one of the most talked about Korean dramas at the moment, and for good reason. Unlike the usual melodramas she has starred in, in this series, Song Hye-kyo plays Moon Dong-eun as the protagonist that’s seeking revenge on her high school bullies.
First launched in December, the drama made its return to our screens in March for its second instalment. Continuing from where it left off, Moon Dong-eun, is in the final phase of her vendetta against the people she swore to take revenge on.
While we can’t deny that the show has an addictive plot that we can’t seem to get enough of, we found that there is plenty of style inspiration to be found in the show as well. Characters like Yeon-jin, Sa-ra and Hye-jeong are clad in flashy and expensive clothing that you can seamlessly transition from day to night, while Moon Dong-eun’s cool and subdued style is something that we can definitely see ourselves wearing for our upcoming meetings in the office.
To inspire your back-to-work look, we’ve rounded up a few things that you can wear the next time you need to look professional, put-together, and fashionably Korean.
As a victim of bullying, Moon Dong-eun wardrobe usually consists of trench coats, long sleeve tops and pants to cover up the scars she got when she got bullied in high school. For someone like her who has a cool, hardened personality, she opts for minimalist and functional pieces in monochrome black or neutral tones so she doesn’t attract attention when she’s engaging in surreptitious activities. When she teaches in school, you’ll notice that she’s often seen in shirts, high-neck tops and wide-legged pants. But most of the time, you’ll often spot her wearing a trench coat while she’s out running her errands.
Yeon-jin showcases some of the fanciest outfits in the show that are definitely worth taking note of. In ‘the Glory’, you’ll often see her sporting tweed jackets, sophisticated blouses, and a pair of bejewelled heels for the ultimate power dressing combo. Living in the lap of luxury, Yeon-jin also loves pairing her looks with statement accessories like pearl chokers and luxury handbags.
Choi Hye-jeong is a flight attendant who is one of Dong-eun’s high school bullies. In the show, she often gets humiliated by her group of friends because of her poor financial status. To fit in with the others, she made it a point to keep her appearance pristine by going for plastic surgery and wearing designer clothes that she would often “borrow” from her family’s dry cleaning business. As for her style, Hye-jeong usually opts for figure-hugging silhouettes that accentuate her body shape.
Unlike her “friends” Yeon-jin and Hye-jeong, Sa-ra is the one that cares least about her style and her vanity. With a carefree and creative lifestyle, you’ll often find her spending most of her time in her studio doing art and engaging in other frivolous activities. Reflecting her personality, Sa-ra likes to wear loose-fitting clothing, with bright and colourful prints.
