Resort wear ’19 accessories edit: The most fabulous bags, sunglasses and jewellery you need

This resort season, we’re seeing neck scarves make a comeback and geometric jewellery take centre stage. Check out all the unique and eccentric accessories you absolutely cannot miss out on this Resort 2019

by Deni Kirkova  /   June 22, 2018

Resort fashion shows offer a fresh update for your accessories wardrobe – usually more unique and boundary-pushing than during spring summer.

We love the bold and beautiful handbags on show including neat, French-inspired pieces at Versace, and organic, earthy totes inspired by nature seen at the Gucci and 3.1 Phillip Lim shows. Valentino ticked both trends.

From a large variety of quirky earring and necklace ideas, our favourite take on jewellery has to be the geometric jewellery trend, as well as the return of neck scarves.

Here’s our round-up of the most fabulous Resort wear ’19 bags and accessories you need.

Viva La France

Blue, white and red block colour bags were seen at Chloe, Chanel, Versace and Valentino. It’s a classic colourway for Resort season with a nod to maritime details, brought up to date.

Versace

Set to be the new Longchamp Le Pliage, this casual go-anywhere bag is the perfect size to take to the beach or the office while still feeling incredibly chic. Paired with berets at Versace (still hot for Chanel, too) for that extra-French feel.

Racing stripes make this bag both Parisian-chic and athleisure ready. Wear with a little summer shorts-suit and sneakers.

Valentino

A boxy modern shape and blocky France flag colours, we love this statement bag’s chain strap detail and sporty aesthetic.

Mother Earth

Birds, bees, trees and flowers printed, embossed or embroidered, we love the fairytale trend of Mother Earth bags. Natural colours and methods like weaving at 3.1 Phillip Lim or plaited straps across a range of designers were also big this Resort season.

Dior

Dior showcased fine tree-print totes and these small handbags with chunky floral embroidery and thick, edgy straps. Kitsch and dramatic, let the bag do the talking by keeping the rest of your accessories simple.

3.1 Phillip Lim

This collection was full of woven shoes, bags and hats with crazy rims. It’s a pretty quirky look for the modern woman, but the tassels and chic piping on this fabulously roomy tote make it work for most outfits – not just hippie ones.

Valentino

A gorgeous embroidered butterfly on a small and neat black bag – so versatile, still discreet and bang on trend.

Gucci

Handbags shone during the theatrical and macabre Gucci show. We’re swooning over birds and bees embossed bags and the pink and red poppy print tote and matching slippers.

Geometric jewellery

Flat and edgy twisted jewels, inspired by the futurism art movement, were seen at Louis Vuitton, Camilla and Marc, Victoria Beckham, Fausto Puhlisi, Paco Rabanne and Mugler. So modern and the perfect accent for a statement outfit.

Paco Rabanne

Paco Rabanne presented chunky mismatching earrings – another big trend that’s a little less wearable – and bold, gold chain necklaces which we can totally see working with our wardrobe.

Camilla and Marc

All jewellery hit the geometric trend jackpot during the Australian label’s Resort presentation. Earrings in both gold and white, with matching necklace, are the perfect set to accent a chic new office outfit.

Louis Vuitton

Edgy earrings and long chain necklaces ‘melted’ out of shape added a metallic flow to pristine, billowing outfits. These silver accents will go with most of your block-colour wardrobe.

Neck scarves
image

Neck scarves are back, as seen at the Gucci, Valentino, Antonia Marras, Giamba and La DoubleJ shows, to name a few. Wear extra long round the neck, bandana-style or even as a glasses chain (Gucci) – just make sure it’s bright!

Giamba
image

We love the mixed print and colour way aesthetic of the Giamba Resort presentation. Add a pop of colour and marry an outfit together with a bright, feminine neck scarf.

Valentino

Geometric jewellery, Vive la France and silky scarves ticked in one accessories look. Swoon!

La DoubleJ

Extra long with a kitsch and crazy print, these statement-piece scarves should be worn with an equally loud outfit and minimalist hair and makeup for an arty, cultured look.
