Following their fuchsia and navy themed church ceremony at Thomson road Baptist Church, the couple held a dinner banquet at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore.
“Zhi Guang proposed on a mountain peak. We hiked up Mount Hangetsuyama in Japan. I was sweaty, exhuasted and had just removed some stones from my shoes when he proposed. That was a surprise!” shares Michelle.
“Our relationship started as purely platonically as I was with someone else at that point.
This allowed us to be our silly selves instead of having to impress one another. Zhi Guang was always making me laugh, and we were equally corny when it came to pop culture references.
Once I was single again, we got closer and became a couple after he asked in his signature joking fashion: “Ai stead mai?”

There was no theme, but they did have a colour scheme – fuchsia, navy and light pink as well as blue – that was reflected in their invitations and decor.

Inspired by her dress, Justin Koh of Fleurlicious kept Michelle’s bouquet classy.
He used matthiolas, because they resembled the appliques, as well as eustomas, roses and several types of foliage.
The Blending of the Sands ceremony symbolises the joining of the bride and groom.
“I found it beautifully significant. It meant that it would be impossible to separate the coloured sands once they came together.
The jar now sits in our display cabinet and is a constant reminder of our relationship every time we see it.”
“I was an emotional mess during the ceremony. Hearing Zhi Guang promise to love and care for me till death do us part hit a raw nerve.”
A buffet lunch with a live prata station was served after the church ceremony.

One of the main inspirations behind their celebration was wanting guests to know more about them as a couple.
“Zhi Guang and I talked about priorities and budget allocation prior to the preparation.
We decided to make decisions about big-ticket items together as we didn’t believe in ‘If you don’t agree to this, then its okay, I’ll pay for it myself.’
We were certain that this was the right start to our marriage.”
Each tier of their wedding cake was a different flavour.
