The third edition of the Her World Brides #Coverbrides was launched earlier in June this year and we’ve picked out our top three brides!
We whisked finalists Amanda Olivia Lim, Amanda Loo, and Stella Thet, as well as their partners to Bintan, where we had a photo shoot with the couples (which you may have seen if you follow us on our Instagram page @herworldbrides) against the sandy beach, set-ups and exteriors of the gorgeous The Residence Bintan. They share with us their love stories and wedding plans.
Plus: Don’t forget to cast your vote for your favourite bride to see her appear on the cover of our September 2019 issue, and stand a chance to win superb prizes!

How did you meet and what was your first impression of him?
We met at a beer festival here in 2015. I thought he was very friendly, very funny and easy to chat with. And he had a childlike smile. We actually Skyped before our first date and he tried to show off his linguistic talent by reciting a vulgar Hokkien phrase. I was with my friends then and they laughed so hard.
What do you love most about him?
That he cares so deeply about those close to him. He is one of the most thoughtful and considerate people I know. He is always patient and supportive of me as well as loyal. I also love his laugh, his smile and that innocent face he makes when he is excited or feeling guilty.
What kind of celebration are you having next month?
We planned three “weddings” for our families and friends in the UK, Malaysia and Singapore. To keep within our budget, we kept all as simple as possible. We had an intimate outdoor garden celebration with a beer fest theme here, and a cosy restaurant dinner in the UK. Our final celebration in November is a traditional Chinese banquet in Malaysia.
Who Amanda Olivia Lim, 27, a social media specialist, engaged to engineer Daniel Chan, 27
How did you meet Daniel?
I met my fiance four years ago at a photo shoot for our Nanyang Technological University hall committee. We were both members, and I was the photographer as well. Nothing much happened till six months later when he saw an IG pic of me enjoying a prata supper, and shared that he loved prata, too. The relationship took off from there.
How did he propose?
We were on holiday in Santorini, Greece, and he’d arranged a dinner date. There was a posh car waiting outside our Airbnb to take us to Mystique Hotel in Oia. While I was enjoying the beautiful views, Daniel disappeared into the reception area and emerged with a blindfold. With my eyes covered, he led me over uneven terrain, and only took the blindfold off when we were overlooking the vast Mediterranean Sea. Then he proposed.
What kind of wedding are you having?
We are planning to have the ceremony at a resort to remind us of the proposal in Oia, followed by a celebration with our families and dearest friends.
Who Stella Thet, 27, a financial consultant, engaged to investment banker, Steven Tan Zhi Yuan, 28
When did you first meet your fiance and what was your first impression of him?
We bumped into each other at Zouk back in 2016, but only started talking six months later, From the way he carried himself, he looked like a ladies’ man.
How do you manage your relationship?
We are very different in many ways, but we always make an effort to communicate and understand each other’s point of view. Opposites attract but to maintain a good relationship, communication is key.
What kind of wedding are you having?
We both love nature and are planning an outdoor solemnisation and celebration with our families and close friends.
