These trinkets may be small and seemingly unassuming, but the market for pretty charms packs a hefty punch.
According to a 2018 report by Financial Times, the humble charm had revolutionised the jewellery industry and created global names out of brands such as Pandora, a Danish brand that saw its revenue grow more than sixfold from DKK3.5bn (S$716m) in 2009 to DKK22.8bn (S$4.66b) in 2017.
Other brands are also beginning to recognise the allure of the charm, especially since it has still remained popular amongst the younger demographic and those seeking to use the charm to express themselves and commemorate milestones in life.
Local jewellers Poh Heng and Lee Hwa are two that have added their names to the mix, as both released their version of a charm collection in 2016 and 2018 respectively. Another newcomer to the scene is Australian label Wanderlust + Co, which recently revealed its Make It Yours debut charm collection in February.
So if you’re as in love as we are with these beautiful adornments, read on for our favourite pieces from brands such as Tiffany & Co., Pandora and Thomas Sabo and give your jewellery some much-needed refreshing.

Like the evil eye, the Native American dreamcatcher is believed to ward off evil. But not just that, it is also believed to trap nightmares and collect good dreams so you get to enjoy nights of restful sleep. Seems like a good enough reason to add this to your bracelet, but if that’s not enough, this talismanic charm simply adds to the boho appeal.
