21 Singapore wedding venues that’ll make your wedding more meaningful

Do good or contribute to a greener planet by having your celebrations at these venues!

Before confirming your wedding venue, you’ll need to consider several factors including budget, size, location, and menu (because let’s face it, your guests are more likely to pay attention to the food they’re eating than whether they’re seated on Tiffany chairs, or the colour of your table cloths).

Today, several venues are also looking at eco-friendly, or socially-conscious practices that give back. And, should you be considering a venue that tries to minimise its carbon footprint, or gives back to the less fortunate, you will be glad to know that you can look to these ones when planning your nuptials.

21 Singapore wedding venues that'll make your wedding more meaningful
Andaz Singapore
image

One of the chicest hotels with such stylish wedding venues in Singapore (actress/model Sheila Sim gave it her stamp of approval when she held her own nuptials there with banker Deon Woo in January 2018), Andaz Singapore is also helping save the planet with a host of initiatives.

These include reducing the use of electricity by making full use of natural lighting at its wedding venues (The Glasshouse, with floor-to-ceiling windows on all sides, and holds up to 280 guests, is one of them). Beverages come with biodegradable straws that are made from wheat stems instead of plastic. On the menu, dishes are made from cage-free eggs from a local company, up to 80 per cent of seafood are certified to be sustainable, and organic edible flowers, and other forms of garnish are obtained from Cameron Highlands in Malaysia, as opposed to Europe or Australia, which minimises carbon footprint.

5 Fraser Street, Singapore 189354

Artemis Grill
image

Perched on the 40th floor of CapitaGreen, and fitted with floor-to-ceiling glass windows and an outdoor space, Artemis Grill offers gorgeous views of the city area, mouth-watering Mediterranean cuisine, and a stylish space for modern couples.

Housed in a building that’s known for its green efforts including rainwater harvesting and using energy-efficient high-performance glass panels, Artemis Grill doesn’t fall far behind with its own practices. The Tulip umbrellas you see at the outdoor terrace bar are designed to maximise the use of rainwater that goes through the venue, and recycled within the building.

Its seasonal menu, crafted by British Executive Chef Oliver Hyde, comes from organic produce, sustainably-sourced seafood and meat that is also ethically farmed, free-range, and hormone-free.

CapitaGreen Rooftop, 138 Market Street, Level 40, Singapore 048946

Courtyard by Marriott
image

If you’re thinking of having an intimate solemnisation by the pool with views of the city, or a cocktail party after your reception, look to Courtyard by Marriott at Novena for a wonderful time. The newly minted hotel ensures environmental sustainability by reducing the use of plastic trash bags, and reducing food waste at its events.

Edible Garden City

Located just a few minutes away from Queenstown MRT, the urban farm is perfect for couples looking for a tranquil wedding reception with lush, leafy surroundings. The venue, which seats up to 170 or 250 standing guests, is fully-customisable, and has the facilities to host wheelchair-bound visitors. While external catering can be arranged, we recommend the venue’s farm-to-table catering for a unique experience.

Four Seasons Hotel Singapore
image

Tie the knot surrounded by old-world romance at this elegant establishment. Think regal spaces like the Four Seasons Ballroom with French windows, and the Crescent Ballroom with handmade glass chandeliers, lush floral decorations, as well as exemplary cuisine in its menus. Even better? Four Seasons Hotel Singapore observes a No Shark’s Fin policy, and are using biodegradable straws where necessary, and energy-saving light bulbs around the area.

Gardens by the Bay
image

Whether you’re looking to fulfil your dreams of having a wedding worthy of being a Crazy Rich Asian, or are looking to show your overseas guests a unique time in Singapore, there are several venues here for you to choose from. The Flower Field Hall, with its impressive customisable LED-lighted ceiling, set within the Flower Dome offers stunning views of the lush blossoms, and the Marina Bay waterfront.

The Secret Life of Trees offers an unparalleled view of the Supertree Grove, and lets guests enjoy the Garden Rhapsody light and music show. And, if you and your guests aren’t afraid of heights, the OCBC Skyway, which affords a panoramic view of the Gardens and Marina Bay, will be an experience to remember.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the Supertrees are lit up with solar energy, and the cooled conservatories are generated using horticultural waste, while minimising heat gain from its double glazed glass that allow maximum light for plants.

Grand Hyatt Singapore
image

Long regarded as a choice venue for wedding dinners, the Grand Hyatt Singapore’s comprehensive wedding packages include personalised butler services, delectable menus, solemnisation venues, and sophisticated decorations. Couples will also be impressed by its dedication to sustainable living.

Like its sister hotel Andaz Singapore, Grand Hyatt sources 70 per cent of its greens from Cameron Highlands, and cage-free eggs, free range chickens, and grass fed cows are used in its dishes. Thirty per cent of its herbs are sourced from its own rooftop gardens, 80 to 90 per cent of its seafood are certified sustainable, and they are the first hotel in Southeast Asia to introduce plant-based ingredients for its Western vegan menus.

Other green practices include the 1,000-litre digester machine that converts the hotel’s food waste into pathogen-free, organic fertiliser, which is used at its green spaces including the herb garden. The hotel also has a trigeneration plant that produces some of its own electricity and waste heat to generate hot water, steam and refrigeration. The hotel’s rooftop garden, located right on top of the Grand Ballroom, provides the venue with a natural form of heat insulation, which reduces energy consumption from its air-conditioning system.

Hotel Fort Canning
image

Tucked within the lush grounds of Fort Canning Park, the iconic heritage hotel evokes a distinct colonial glamour that’s also known for its beautiful outdoor spaces, the air-conditioned Grand Marquee, and stylish wedding themes.

Beyond that, the hotel is committed to taking steps to environmental conservation and sustainability through practices like using chlorine-free mineral water for its swimming pools, and using natural spices in its dishes at The Salon from the Spice Garden in Fort Canning Park. The hotel also offers tours around Fort Canning Park for guests to appreciate the flora and fauna the Park has to offer.

Kampung Afterglow
image

Serving only plant-based foods on its menu, the vegan restaurant, which has been open since 2014, is one of the pioneers of eco-friendly and sustainable practices.

The restaurant also works mostly with local producers to minimise its carbon footprint, including Rachelle the Rabbit, a local distillery for its spirits, and practises a zero-food waste philosophy; its dehydrated raw crackers are derived from its juice pulps.

For the cake-cutting ceremony, Kampung Afterglow’s raw vegan cakes, which are made with vegetable food colouring, are as delicious as the regular deal.

Little Island Brewing Co
image

If your dream celebrations include a rustic-themed wedding located next to the beach, Little Island Brewing Co, with its charming barn-like settings that go with practically any colour theme, is perfect.

The venue also serves up a variety of craft beers from its in-house brewery, wines, and ciders, numerous menu options (including one for children), plus a comprehensive floral and styling package for solemnisations and table decorations. The space, which holds up to a maximum of 332 guests, puts a green spin on its processes by donating its spent grain from its beer brewing, to a sustainable farming organisation for compost.

The venue’s ingredients for its European tapas-style menus are sourced locally, including fresh seafood from individual fishermen for its seafood paella dish. The establishment also provides biodegradable paper straws when requested.

6 Changi Village Road, Singapore 509907.

Mahota
image

With its neutral colour palette, and wood- and plant-filled interiors, the farm-to-table establishment evokes cosy vibes that’s perfect for a close-knit celebration. The wooden tables and benches in the restaurants are made from recycled wood, while the side table stands are given a new lease of life from old wine barrels. Other natural-based materials like cork, clay and wood add rustic finishing touches to the space.

On its menu, Mahota Kitchen serves fresh foods with organic produce, and free-range meats, as well as dishes – such as pizza, yoghurt, bread, cakes, and sauces – that are made from scratch without the use of artificial colouring, flavouring and preservatives. For bigger events, couples are encouraged to order lesser food to prevent and reduce food waste, instead of making provisions for a larger crowd from the get go. And, should you want to relive your big day all over again, head to Mahota for its seasonal omakase menu, featuring the season’s best produce.

Mahota is located at several areas, including Mahota Kitchen at Kitchener Complex and Century Square.

Novotel on Stevens
image

For breezy outdoor solemnisations, or timeless and romantic venues for lunch or dinner receptions, you’ve got them all at Novotel on Stevens. Wow your guests even before the main event with your cocktail hour under the stars at the Milkyway foyer, before heading into the sweeping Polaris Ballroom. Choose from its three themes – Glittering Bliss with fairylights, Infinite Eden with magical floral arrangements, and the pastel Sweet Serenity.

Also, thanks to AccorHotels’ Planet 21 programme for a sustainable future, Novotel on Stevens’ kitchens are working to ensure minimal food wastage. The use of shark’s fin was also phased out in 2018. The hotel also uses LED lights in all of its venues, which are more energy-efficient.

Open Farm Community
image

The countryside-like space with lush leafy surroundings, tucked away in the Tanglin area, is a popular option for couples seeking a dreamy, rustic setting. The venue has removed single-use plastic, and switched to biodegradable and resusable materials while working with suppliers to try to eliminate plastic packaging altogether.

In the kitchen, the restaurant tries to quantify its waste streams by tracing and identifying its ingredients from its various suppliers. Beyond this, Open Farm Community aims to spread the word about conscious living through its menus, events and workshops, including the introduction of its all-Singapore omakase menu, where every ingredient (except for the oil, butter and salt), has been grown and raise in Singapore.

Open Farm Community offers a series of menu options start from three courses, and is available for lunch or dinner receptions. The space seats 80 indoors, 40 at its outdoor deck, and 60 at the safari terrace.

PARKROYAL on Pickering Singapore
image

The iconic green structure, which is essentially 15,000 square metres of lush foliage including zero-energy sky-gardens powered by solar energy cells, waterfalls, and cascading vertical greenery, offers various venues for different celebrations, including indoor and outdoor ones. There is the Outdoor Terrace (that seats up to 80) on the fifth floor that offers gorgeous views of the city as you exchange your vows.

Then there is the William and Pickering Ballrooms (with a combined capacity of 320 guests, and 165 separately) with floor-to-ceiling glass windows that offer natural lighting and views of the hotel’s lush surroundings.

The hotel’s menu is as unique. From its eight-course organic Chinese set menu featuring sustainably sourced natural produce, to its flexibility, where couples who opt for the eight-course Oriental Chinese Set Lunch or Dinner menus, may create their own. The hotel’s gorgeous design also includes sustainability in the form of its comprehensive energy and water conservation features that include rainwater harvesting, and the use of green and blue glass to improve solar performance. Other initiatives include the use of recycling bins in all guest rooms and throughout the hotel, and meat-free dishes, and a plant-based a-la-carte menu at its Lime Restaurant.

Beyond that, you’ll also find wedding packages tailored to suit your needs. Its restaurant, Origin Grill & Bar, serves up a riot of flavours inspired by travel adventures and Singapore’s history of trade, colonial charm, and tropical splendour. Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort and Spa
image

For gorgeous seaside ceremonies, and an idyllic getaway from the city bustle, look no further than the only beachfront resort in Singapore. The hotel’s two ballrooms, Horizon Pavilion, and Siloso Ballroom affords panoramic vistas of the South China Sea, and direct access to the resort’s lushly manicured gardens and the nearby Siloso Beach respectively.

For an unforgettable sunset solemnisation and dinner by the sea, the outdoor The Rocks is perfect, while Barnacles by the Sea offers the best of both worlds with its indoor and alfresco settings. Prefer something on the beach itself? The resort’s Jade and Diamond Sites make the perfect tropical venue with the background sound of the waves crashing on the shore.

Environmentally-conscious couples will also be glad to know that the non-smoking resort adopts green practices including burners that reduce smoke emissions into the environment at the buffet stations, using locally farmed produce and sustainable seafood options in the wedding menu, biodegradable wedding favours and straws (only provided upon request).

Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA)
image

Animal lovers will be happy to know that the option of having a wedding at the SPCA’s Essery Pavilion is open, with rental costs fully donated to the organisation. Other ways to help include donating to the organisation or sponsoring an animal, kennel, or cattery, in lieu of wedding favours, where you’ll receive thank-you cards for your guests. Alternatively, you can help the animals by sponsoring them converting your red packets and wedding gifts into donations from your guests, by having SPCA’s return envelopes included with your invites.

The choice really, is all yours.
