Every time Christmas season rolls around, we get into a slight frenzy with gift-buying and gathering plans. Another major to-do? Proclaiming our Christmas wish list. As we move towards more conscious shopping, the last thing we want is to give or receive items that end up in their packaging for months, or stowed away for “later use”, never to see the light of day.
To kickstart this mind-boggling affair of conscious gifting, we would recommend you to create a wish list, and invite your friends and family to do the same. There are plenty of online tools, such as Giftster, My Wishlist and DreamList, that let you create wish lists and share them easily.
Besides simplifying Christmas shopping, the act of creating a wish list also forces you to think about what you really want, minimising the existence of junky gifts. We hope.

“I really love Charles & Keith bags and wallets, and this one caught my eye because it’s my favourite shade of pink. I also like how it comes off as both cute and classy, which is my kind of aesthetic.”

“I’m always looking for styling tools that wouldn’t damage my already-compromised coloured hair. Unlike a traditional flat iron, a steam straightener like this one from L’Oréal promises to lock in moisture to help you achieve silky, smooth strands. It’s something I’d love to give, but I would be delighted to have one of my own, too.”
– Letty Seah, associate beauty editor

“Smaller, lighter and sleeker than the 945, the Forerunner 745 does almost everything for the swim, cycle, run enthusiast, and includes VO2 max, resting heart rate and training stats readings. It also has daily workout suggestions, and you can sync your Spotify playlist to your smartwatch too. Just pop in your sports earbuds and go!”
– Rachelle Genevieve Yeo, associate editor
“As I’m an interior decor nerd, my wish list usually includes lots of homeware items. I have a preference for minimalist and sculptural designs, and this quirky yet chic bowl from luxury American homeware brand L’Objet would be the perfect addition to my growing collection.”
– Lena Kamarudin, contributing fashion editor
Available at Net-a-Porter
“I’ve found my little black dress in this sublime mini dress. This dress is totally made for me, with its body-hugging silhouette and cut-out shoulder straps. Plus, it works great with boots or heels. Chic, sultry and absolutely to die for.”
– Khong Yawen, intern

“If I can’t travel to Kyoto, sipping a G&T made from this Kyoto-distilled expression — bearing flavours of yuzu, gyokuro tea from the Uji region, and Japanese red pine — will have to do for now. This mighty kit has all the ingredients needed for an intimate year-end social gathering during these Covid times.”
– Zara Zhuang, features editor

“I’m a huge fan of red light therapy, a type of treatment that can help skin, muscle tissue and other parts of your body heal, and this portable device would make the most thoughtful gift.”

“These sandals are great as I can use them for leisure cycling. The sole gives support and the upper part has enough structure while still allowing feet to breathe. Plus, the sandals are stylish. What’s not to love?”

“With remote working being part of the new norm, I’d appreciate another pair of trusty wireless earbuds that I can pop into my bag for on-the-go calls. The Jabra Elite 7 Pro is much sleeker compared to its predecessor, has active noise cancellation and is fully waterproof (though the charging case isn’t), which means I can use it for workouts including swimming, and be able to run the ear buds under the tap for cleaning.”
– Estelle Low, digital editor
“In need of everyday sneakers, stat. It’s funny that despite other coloured sneakers that I have in my wardrobe, I always fall back to my trusted black Air Max, which honestly needs to be put in the back closet pretty soon. Currently, I’m looking for another perfect pair. Could this Veja be the one?”
– Windy Aulia, creative director

“One of my new year resolutions for 2022 is to get even more in touch with my creative, crafty side so I would love to have the Maker 3, the newest, latest and fastest of Cricut’s family of cutting machines. It can cut more than 300 materials, and is compatible with PCs and Macs so I’m superbly excited about the options I have!”
– Ng Yi Lian, editor
