It’s the gifting season and, if you ask us, there is no better gift than jewellery – especially if it’s a piece laced with history and backed by an evergreen design.
Case in point: Bvlgari’s Divas’ Dream collection, a range of contemporary jewellery inspired by Roman history. Over the decades, the historic sites and architectural treasures of the Eternal City have been translated into the Italian brand’s unmistakable jewellery designs: the Tubogas motif was inspired by the shape of the city’s gas carrier pipes from the 1920s, while the Parentesi sign came from a detail of Rome’s pavements.
Determined to revive Rome’s cultural spirit, Bvlgari has been undertaking massive restoration projects in the city it has called home since 1884. This includes the famed Spanish Steps, the longest and widest steps in Europe constructed between 1723 and 1725. The luxury house also funded the restoration of the polychrome floor mosaics of the western entrance gymnasium in the Baths of Caracalla (the city’s second largest Roman public baths built between AD 212 and 216/217), which had not been visible to visitors for over 40 years.
In fact, it was the colourful fan-shaped mosaics in the Baths of Caracalla that inspired the brand’s 2016 Divas’ Dream collection. This year sees new pieces being added to the iconic line, introducing a rich colour palette and various interesting interpretations of the distinctive fan design.
Some of the highlights include the 18K rose gold, pink opal and diamond necklace and earrings. Simple yet elegant, these affordably priced pieces are perfect for everyday wear, and versatile enough to mix up with jewellery you already own.
