Mason or clear glass jars have been (almost) used to death as centrepieces, but they’re still as popular in weddings these days. Why? They’re affordable, they can be found at home, they’re reusable, and they make such lovely centrepieces for the table, especially when dressed with flowers or tealights.

While these aren’t easy to tote around (as say lanterns, or table runners), they do make a pretty picture, especially when used as a dessert “table”, the reception table, or photo display. You don’t really need a large one, too. A shelf or ladder that’s about two to three tiers or steps (or about three drawers) is good enough.

These versatile vessels make great containers for flowers, traditional decorations for the car, as well as light centrepieces. For the latter, punch a few holes around the can, heatproof its exterior (so the tins don’t melt or go black), add ribbons (if you wish), and include a candle or tealight in each one of them.

Don’t throw away your used bulbs when they’re blown out! Keep as many as you need (without your parents or fiancee going nuts over the added items for storage), and use them as suspended decorations (works especially well with garden or outdoor weddings), or as vessels for your flowers.

If you’re both avid wine drinkers, save your bottles and corks (as many as you can) for the occasion. Wine bottles again, can double as vases or table numbers, and corks can be used as an alternative guest book, escort cards (see also other unique ideas here, cork balls, or as fillers (which will look best in clear vases).

Overturned wineglasses over individual blooms make pretty, unique centrepieces. For an evening reception, adding tealights to the base of each overturned glass adds a warm and romantic glow to the setting.

From table numbers, to photo displays, there’s a world of possibilities when it comes to photo frames. Even if you don’t have an abundance of it at home, there will be ways to utilise them around the house, after the wedding.
