7 bridal veil types and how to choose the one for you
Elbow & Fingertip
image

Elbow and fingertip veils are, as named, veils that reach to your elbows or fingertips.

They’re usually made of four layers that cascade down the back and cut a flattering silhouette against empire or princess gowns.

However, if you’re a petite bride, they might make you look shorter.

Three quarter or Waltz

Falling somewhere between the knee and the ankle, three quarter or waltz veils are ideal for those who want to wear a longer veil for your formal ceremony but still be able to move around freely.

The length also makes it perfect for creating that Pinterest-worthy windswept effect!

Full or Chapel
image

Traditionally made of three tiers – at the shoulder, the waist and the floor – a chapel veil is a little longer than floor length and creates the illusion of a train, which is great if your gown doesn’t have a long train.

If you’d like to add some drama to your look while looking sophisticated and elegant, then a full or chapel veil is the way to go.

Cathedral

The longest length and most formal looking veil; the cathedral veil pairs well with bias-cut, full and princess gowns. It is usually the most detailed as well.

With the look of a full train trailing behind you, the cathedral veil is ideal for grand and formal wedding celebrations.

You may want to switch it out or remove it for your more casual events however, as the long length might prohibit your movement.

Mantilla

Mantilla is a traditional Spanish-style circular veil that’s usually made of a piece of lace or tulle edged with lace that frames the face.

It is a popular choice to go with more vintage and bohe-looking gowns, as the mantilla veil has a distinct antique charm.

It is usually made of between one and four layers of tulle, silk or lace and the more layers you have, the more dramatic the effect.

Blusher

A blusher is a short veil that falls over and covers the bride’s face and comes in varied lengths.

During the wedding, the veil is pulled back by the groom, with the action symbolising the bride’s transition to becoming a wife.
