When news of Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber’s wedding broke, her gown was pretty much a mystery, since the bride kept it under wraps by walking to her venue inside a white tent.
Photo and details later emerged of the model’s spectacular off-shoulder lace wedding dress, which was designed (surprise!) by Virgil Abloh, founder of luxury streetwear label Off-White.
The edge of the six-foot veil was embroidered with the phrase, “Till Death Do Us Part” in Off-White’s signature font, as was the back of her dress, which sported the words “Wedding Dress”, spelt out in pearls.
“I wanted to bring together modern and traditional elements,’ she told Vogue. Designed by Natacha Ramsay-Levi of Chloe together with Goulding herself, the silk crepe dress had a high lace neckline, padded shoulders and hand-embroidered White Roses of York motifs as well as white glass beads.
Her veil was stitched with her and husband Caspar Jopling’s initials, E and C.
The bride’s wedding dress was a lavish Rebecca Caroline ballgown embroidered with sequins and crystals, which she wore with a glittering tiara.
She told us,”I fell in love with as soon as I put it on – was so different from the mermaid I envisioned myself wearing but did not suit my petite frame. The final touch was a stunning cathedral-length veil with Swarovski crystals.”
She pledged her vows in a classic-style Saint Laurent brocade dress that had long sleeves and three bows down the front that was reminiscent of Princess Grace’s own embroidered suit for her civil ceremony. Later, she donned an architectural Chanel gown for the reception.
Her bling of choice and another sentimental tribute to her late grandmother: A three-strand Cartier necklace that came from Princess Grace’s jewelry collection, and was a gift for her 1956 wedding.
