Here at herworldPLUS, we take workwear very seriously. We’ve always preached about how important it is to keep your workwear game strong to impress your bosses and co-workers.
Unfortunately, the long hours that we have to spend in our offices present a bit of a conundrum: How can we keep our work outfits looking fresh and stylish without busting our wardrobe budget?
I know some of us feel like we constantly need to buy new clothes in order to keep up with the “fashion people”, but that’s far from the truth. All you really need are great accessories to give the outfits you already own a fresh new twist! Here are five trending key pieces that will transform the most boring of looks.
1. Scarf
If there’s one accessory trend we’re seeing over and over again on the runways and on all the street style stars, it’s definitely the scarf, which has had something of a high-fashion makeover in recent seasons. Whether worn long or short, tied or loose, this little accessory will render you chic and stylish effortlessly.
2. Statement belt
The wide belt is a sure-fire way to add drama and dimension to your overall look. It cinches the waist (hence lending flattering definition to your body) and can help to add a pop of colour to your ensemble without going over the top.
3. Choker
Chokers, a 1990s-style staple, has made a comeback and are hotter than ever before in 2016. Celebrities and top models like Rihanna, Alexa Chung, Miranda Kerr and Kendall Jenner (just to name a few) have been seen out and about with this transformative accessory! It’s easy to see the chokers’ appeal: It’s easy to wear, doesn’t overwhelm your outfit, yet adds an insouciantly sexy vibe to your outfit.
4. Brooch
You might associate a brooch with your grandmother, but kill that connection right now! What used to be an old-fashioned accessory has now been reimagined for the young modern woman. These nifty little pins work best on blazers and sweaters and add a whole lot of personality and a fantastic finishing touch to your outfit.
5. Headbands
This is probably one of the most neglected accessories amongst office ladies in Singapore, which is a pity because it’s such a graceful way to decorate your hairdo and add a little flair to your work outfit. For a more work-appropriate and polished look, I would recommend staying away from designs with floral and outlandish motifs. Zero in on solid colours in luxe materials such a velvet or satin; textured or printed bands; or even those embellished with pearls and rhinestones.
