This weekend from August 20 to 21, 2016, more than 40 Singapore social enterprises will come together at FestivalForGood, Singapore’s inaugural social enterprise festival to showcase their products and services, and raise awareness of the growing community.
Feast on a range of unique dishes that incorporate carefully cultivated produce from local farms served up by Timbre+ chefs in collaboration with social enterprise Edible Garden City, shop at the pop-up markets or take part in the fun activities and learning journeys. General admission to Saturday’s festival is free, and while registration prior to the event is not compulsory, the public is encouraged to register on Peatix by August 19, 2pm to receive a free tote bag whilst stocks last.

Flour Power is a social enterprise bakery that trains people with special needs to equip them with the relevant skills for jobs in commercial food and beverage establishments.
Indulge your sweet tooth with yummy bakes from Flour Power. Try a rich slice of carrot cake or a decadent chocolate tart, hand-made without any artificial ingredients.
Get a healthy mental workout this Saturday with Neeuro, a social enterprise that develops neurotechnology and games that boost mental function and slow down or prevent the onset of dementia.
You will be one of the first few to try out their Senzeband, a futuristic headband that monitors your brainwave activity to track and measure memory, concentration and responsiveness. Try out fun and challenging brain games on the Memorie app and gain a deeper understanding of your own mental state.
You can also get a $20 discount if you buy a Senzeband and the accompanying Memorie app at the event.
Tware is a wearable tech company that designs intelligent, active clothing that helps to monitor your body’s needs and provide pain and stress relief using touch technology.
Try out touch-technology jackets of the future, such as Airawear, the world’s first intelligent massage jacket that alleviates backache. Also check out Tjacket, a hug jacket that calms children with autism down and fulfils their sensory needs.
Beatabox is the leading cajon enterprise in Singapore which aims to bring people of all walks of life together to enjoy beats and rhythm as a form of self-expression and to facilitate inter-cultural interaction through the musical instrument. It conducts lessons, workshops and performances island-wide.
Listen to an exciting cajon drumming performance and learn the basics from trained drummers at Beatabox’s hour-long cajon drumming workshop, designed to give people a strong foundation in playing this versatile instrument.
This social enterprise teaches youth-at-risk and other disadvantaged individuals to sew in order to foster a sense of competence, creativity and empowerment.
At Sew Into It’s sewing workshops, you can try your hand at sewing a reversible book cover and choose from a selection of fabrics. The workshops are open to both adults and children.
Dialogue in the Dark encourages the public to step into someone else’s shoes for a day and see the world in a different way. Each tour is 1 hour long and slots are limited. The public will receive a special gift if they sign up through SAFRA.
Journey into a world without sight on an experiential tour at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, guided by a visually impaired person in complete darkness.
Edible Garden City supports the Grow Your Own Food movement and advocates for more sustainable ways of producing greens in Singapore.
Learn how to grow your own organic crops. During the workshop, you’ll try your hand propagating plant cuttings, which you can bring home and nurture. Find out how to grow your own food organically. You’ll also learn more about soil fertility, watering and pest management and some of the problems with modern industrial agriculture.
Visit the Sustainable Living Lab Community Lab@WCSEA, a creative maker space equipped with tools and machinery where the public can come together to build their own inventions.
Designed as an all-inclusive space that is friendly to persons with disabilities, Sustainable Living Lab hopes it will bring people together to make a positive impact on society through innovations such as solar-powered cookers or automated self-monitoring plant irrigation systems.
