Yes, ma’am! no, ma’am! We used to work at the Singapore Police Force, and first met each other during a two-week course in 2011. Keat was one of the first friends I made there, and we hit it off pretty well over stories he shared about the Force during our bus trips out of the secluded compound. [He later admitted that the trips he took were planned.] He left a positive impression on me, and we got together shortly after the course.
During these five years, we have seen each other through the good and bad, and have been each other’s pillar of support. Our relationship has grown stronger and, till today, we still get excited about meeting each other and going on dates.
He asked, twice! The short story: In June 2015, he proposed to me while we were on our trip in Yogyakarta in our hotel room. The longer story? He first proposed in May 2015 in Seoul. We were resting from cycling around Yeouido Park when Keat popped the question with a handcrafted scrapbook and ring box. I was not ready for it then and it was tough on him. Still, everything worked out during our trip to Indonesia and we are no longer bothered by what happened in South Korea. We even joke about his failed attempt sometimes!
We had two celebrations, too We had our ROM, as well as the gatecrashing and tea ceremony, and a family dinner on the first Saturday, while the second celebration was a more relaxed and casual dinner with our friends.
Happy tears There were a lot of memorable moments, but it was most special when the door opened and I saw him standing at the end of the aisle. I thought: “This is it. Even if the world falls apart, he will still be there.”
