Myrelle Chan, 35, married Derek Low, 32, in a pretty and rustic garden wedding ceremony at The White Rabbit:
“We won’t go into the details, but basically the stars aligned and we met at the right place at the right time.
When I met Derek for the first time, I did not expect us to go this far. He proposed just eight months after we met, as it felt right. And it turned out right!
Our wedding was simple and cosy, with our nearest and dearest witnessing our union.
We tied the knot on June 16, 2016 as I wanted a memorable date [16.06.16] for our wedding anniversary. And as we had a lunch reception instead of dinner, we are very thankful to all who turned up.”
This story was first published on Her World Brides Mar’17.
“He proposed on Christmas Day on bended knee – even though he had an injury! – with a candlelit dinner on the beach at a resort. I couldn’t have asked for more.”
The couple went with a minimalist, rustic garden wedding theme and chose dark blue as the main colour.
Myrelle’s bouquet comprised a medley of blue flowers (including irises, hydrangeas and peonies), which tied in with her theme.
“We relied on Rubina Tiyu from Inside The Knot for her expertise. We just told her we wanted it to match the blue colour theme. I was worried if the bouquet would be too big because I’m rather petite but my worry was unfounded!”

Showers of blessings rained down the moment the couple had their first kiss as man and wife.
“We were initially worried about the rain, as the weather leading up to the wedding day didn’t look too positive. But we didn’t have to that day: The rain came the moment we said “I Do” and kissed as husband and wife.”
No ceremony is complete without a toast!
“Our celebration was awesome because our loved ones were there to witness the special occasion.”
An exuberant toss to her bridesmaids.
The couple made most of the things themselves – including deciding on the cupcakes and customised favours.
Artisanal cupcakes in shades of white, blue and dark blue by Febby of Febspantry were served to each of the guests instead of a wedding cake.
“We wanted our guests to be able to bring home the cupcakes with a carrier, thus we decided to create a personalized paper wedding bag. Derek designed it and we both chopped the bags with a handcrafted stamp.”
Wedding guests tucked into lunch under the romantic high ceilings of The White Rabbit’s chapel interior. The couple’s rustic, minimalist wedding theme matched The White Rabbit’s decor perfectly.
“We love the look of the chapel in the day and the romantic ambience it exhibits at night.”
The table decor was done up with the help of Myrelle’s girlfriends.
“I feel very blessed to have our loved ones around to witness our special day. Everything went as well as we could have hoped for – from the beautiful table decorations, which was done by my friends, to the delicious food – when we had no wedding planner to help!
We would not have changed anything except to invite more loved ones to share the moment with us.”
